Scott Peterson's death penalty conviction overturned, new trial on penalty phase ordered

Good luck on getting a fair and impartial jury after he has been on the ID channel.
 
Indeed. There was the recent multi-part series covering his case that raised intriguing questions about his guilt – but I doubt many are moved to ask many questions about his murder conviction.
 
An interesting finding: this was the CA Supreme Court that sustained the trial result as Peterson had contested that. The venue was moved 90 miles away, but it was moved into a heavily populated area from the original venue so the finding should not have surprised anyone. It appears the death penalty phase was overturned due to improper prospective juror dismissals according to the CA SC. I am against the death penalty anyway so that part doesn’t bother me as long as the sentence becomes life without parole. I don’t think the prosecutor’s office will go to the trouble of a new death penalty trial but one never knows.

In the meantime, we’ll be treated to the spectacle of Peterson appealing through the federal courts.
