Script excerpt of the rape scene in Fannings movie

The website, The Smoking Gun, has part of the script from the Dakota Fanning’s movie, Hound Dog.

We already have a long thread on this but I thought that the actual excerpt could be considered a seperate subject.

Many of us wondered what exactly was in the script. What I am reading sounds creepy.

From the script, Dakota’s best friend leads her to a wooden shed. A man is in the shed. The man asks Dakota to dance for some Elvis Tickets. She does and then he tells her to strip for the ticket. She does and afterwards he rapes her while calling her “a (Bad word for a black person) lover.”

I also wanted to add this to what I wrote above. The scene is supposed to be lit only with lightening flashes. I suppose that is why the director’s said that it was “tasteful” But even without being able to see everything, the script is still troubling.

I assumed that her attacker would be someone she knew and that the film itself would be about her relationship with a pedophile and his manipulatioin of her. A part of me could almost understand such a movie.

What I have read though, makes it sound as if the rape scene was simply added in for salicious value. The rapist isn’t named and from what I have read on another site, he isn’t mentioned again.

I really don’t see how this scene helps any victim of an attack. In fact, the script says that when Dakota drops her clothing, including her underwear that she agrees to gyrate for the man before he rapes her. Why would the director include her doing that? What I read was very troubling regardless of how nongraphic it was filmed.

The fact of the matter is, you don’t stop child rape as a society by filming it. Showing a child being raped (whether it’s real or acting) does nothing but burn an impure sexual image into the minds of the masses. Do you know how hard it is for guys to get an image like that out of their heads even if they don’t want it there?
If you want to stop child rape, awesome. I’m for it. Do a documentary on the 6 year old girls who were rescued from a Cambodian brothel their parents sold them to. There is nothing helpful about showing these acts, and when you pay children to simulate these acts, you take a piece of their innocence, too.
No one in their right mind wants to see something this graphic. You know who does? Pedophiles. And they will be able to do it under the guise of respectability because this is being promoted as raising awareness of an atrocity.
Furthermore, this helps desensitize society to pedophilia. Yeah, it’s outrageous the first time someone does this. Less so the next time and each subsequent time until we’re seeing simulated child rape on CBS primetime.
There is nothing good about this and i reiterate my former statement that everyone involved with this should be ashamed of themselves, especially Dakota’s mother and agent, both of whom, i understand, were on the set when it was being filmed .
P.S. I would have used more angry faces, but i got a warning for going over the limit.

Johnny Catholic, I understand your anger. I posted the script so that we can all see for ourselves what was in the movie.

What surprises me is that although this is a rape scene that the directors chose to sexualize the victim. I don’t understand their reasoning behind this.
