Scriptural examples of intercessory prayer

I"m fairly certain that Scripture has a few examples of an individual praying for another’s salvation. For instance, we learn (IMO) in Gen(?) when Abraham asks God to spare Sodom and/or Gomorrah for the sake of 50, 40, 30, 10 righteous people, and God says He will. (of course, it seems there are none righteous). In my mind Abraham is praying on behalf of the inhabitants of the cities.
Are there any others examples, preferably NT, but I’ll take any.

Paul intercedes on behalf of others in a number of his epistles.

But the most obvious are found in the Gospels:
a) Jarius the official, who brings Jesus to cure his 12 year old daughter (Jesus eventually raised the poor girl from the dead).
b) The Roman Centurion who asked Jesus to cure his servant, saying, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you in my house, but only say the word and my servant shall be healed” (paraphrasing).
c) The Greco-Phoenician (?) woman who asked Jesus to heal her daughter who is possessed. She tells Jesus, “even the dogs eat the scraps from the children’s tables” (paraphrasing).
d) There’s also the public official in John’s Gospel, right after the wedding in Cana, who asked for the healing of his son.

e) Although they don’t pray for their friend, but the men who lowered their paralytic friend through the roof in order to have Jesus heal him is a good example of the power of faith.

I’m sure there is much more if you need it, but that’s what comes immediately to mind.
 
Here a couple examples of intercessory prayers for pardon of sins that come to mind:

His friends were told to seek Job’s intercession, “…let my servant Job pray for you; for his prayer I will accept not to punish you severely … [They] did as the LORD had commanded them. And the LORD accepted the intercession of Job.” (Job 42:8-9)

Simon Magus asked St. Peter and company to interceed for him, “I need the prayers of all of you to the Lord, so that what you have just said may never happen to me.” (Acts 8:24)

St. Stephen prayed for those who were stoning him, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” (Acts 7:60)
 
Do a simple search of the word pray here. Limit your field to the New Testament, and you will find a whole string of references – especially in Paul.

Maccabees, people! Maccabees!

I can’t believe I didn’t remember that the first time. In 2nd Maccabees where Judas Maccabeas gathered up a collection for his dead brethren soldiers who had worn the idols around their necks and sent it to the Temple in Jerusalem for atonement!!!
 
Another example that comes to mind is St. Paul praying for Onesiphorus, “When he stands before the Lord on that great Day, may the Lord grant him mercy!” (2 Timothy 1:18)
 
How about the wedding at Cana where they go to Mary because they ran out of wine. Mary goes to Jesus and Jesus performs His first public miracle…teachccd:)
 
Don’t forget the seven angels who present the prayers to God in both the books of Tobit and Revelation.
 
Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint (him) with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful. (James 5:14-16)

I was lectoring today and came across this during today’s first reading. It comes from Moses prayer in Exodus:
Chapter 34: 8-9
Moses at once bowed down to the ground in worship. Then he said, "If I find favor with you, O Lord, do come along in our company. This is indeed a stiff-necked people; yet pardon our wickedness and sins, and receive us as your own."
