Wow I am so excited! I am ver new to posting and to forums. Please be nice I love gospel discussions but some of my questions just get to much sometimes for those around me…

One of my friends suggested I come on Forums and that there are a great deal of smart people here who won’t be afraid to tell me I’m wrong. I like people’s real opinions, not Fluff. Please be honest.

I have recently been very impressed with Daniel 12 pretty much verses 8-13, Does anyone have any idea what all this means? I’ve been given a few Ideas one of which I really like most is posted here on my blog site…

Angelpalmoni: I share your enthusiasm about the Scriptures but am neither one of the smart ones (there are many in the fora but I am not one of them) and also I am a guest here. I did read the scriptural verses of Daniel 12 and visited your web site but my eyes failed me and could not make head from tail in the drawings. I understand Daniel as the key book that opens the book of The Revelation and the passages refer to the 7 year Tribulation time and in particular addresses the midpoint of the Tribulation when the Temple (to be built at Jerusalem and will renew animal sacrifices) will be desecrated by Antichrist who will stop animal sacrifices an proclaim himself god. From this moment on 1260d will transpire and he will be history and an additional 30d will be occupied in the judgment of Israel and the Nations. This is a way different of looking at eschatology than that of Catholics; it is not Catholic doctrine. Like I said I am a guest here and since your question was open to all I decided to participate. I hope this thread gets animated with other participants’ (name removed by moderator)ut.

Ver. 8. Understand not. The prophets were obliged to pray, and sometimes to receive a fresh revelation to explain what they had seen. (Chap. ix. 2.; 1 Peter i. 11.; and 1 Corinthians xiv. 26.) What regarded Antiochus and the Church was almost inexplicable before the event, as the times of antichrist are to us. (ver. 9.)

Ver. 10. White, by persecution endured with patience. (Chap. xi. 35.) — Learned. While the weak Jews will be scandalized at this treatment, the virtuous will reflect that suffering is a trial of God’s servants, and a mark of predestination.

Ver. 11. Days: thirteen more than three and a half, as we reckon. The odd number might be neglected. (ver. 7.) The abomination continued three years and ten days, but the sacrifices had been discontinued six months and three days before. See Chap. viii. 14. If Daniel speak of lunar years, as is probable, the difference would only be two days. (Calmet) — From the abolishing of the mass as much as possible, and the practice of heresy and abomination, unto the end of antichrist’s persecution, 1290 days shall elapse. (Worthington)

Ver. 12. Days. After the three years and a half, fifty-eight days will occur before the death of Antiochus, when Judas will disperse the troops of his three generals. (Calmet) — Some respite will be granted for forty-five days, during which sinners may repent. (Menochius) — It is difficult to say why forty-five days are here added to the former number. We are content to depart with Daniel, (ver. 9.) without searching any farther into these high mysteries. (Worthington)
