My first foray into the whole Bible was as a 14 year old left alone at 40 Hours Devotion. I timidly made my way to the Bible enthroned in front of the Ambo, picked it up like I was doing something wrong, and sat down to read. Opened to Leviticus. Needless to say I went home a very confused, soiled feeling young woman. I couldn’t ask my parents because, well, they’d never read the Bible and I still wasn’t convinced that I hadn’t done anything wrong. It was several years before I figured things out.Maybe some year I’ll try one again. I’m doing okay on my own with the Great Adventure Reading Plan, although I didn’t really need a plan to tell me to start by reading Genesis and Exodus all the way through. At least it skips Leviticus which I remember from my past Bible-reading forays as being very dull.
