Scripture references in Catechism

I was listenting to a show on EWTN the other day (Open Line?) and John Martignoni was on the show. He was talking about how much the Catechism can help you understand Scripture and Scripture can help you understand the Catechism. He then suggested when you are reading one, to have the other one beside you to help better understand.

The version of the Catechism I own (Amazon Catholic Catechism ) lists in the footnotes on each page the verses that each article references. However, I think he also mentioned something about an appendix in the back of the catechism that lists verses/books of scripture and gives the articles in the catechism that reference that particular book/verse. I think that would be extremely useful to me. Unfortunately, my copy does not have that.

My question is if anyone knows where I can find a list like this, whether it’s online, footnotes in a certain study bible, or a book/reference that is in print, I would love know. Or did I just misunderstand what he was saying?

In some versions of the Catechism there is an *Index of Citations *appendix. You can view this Index online at Amazon.com, using their Look Inside! feature, here.

Yes it would be wise to have a your Bible with you while you read the Catechism. But beware, the Catechism uses the RSV-CE and not NAB that is in the lectionaries.I love the Catechism, but absolutely cannot stand the RSV-CE, therefore I look up passages in the Douay-Rheims for a better understanding and occasionally the Haydock Bible Commentary
 
I have been kicking around the idea to provide a Scripture citation index of the Cathecism on my site where you can click onto the Bible verse and it will link you to the paragraph in the CCC. It will take some time but I am really considering it because I don’t think there is one online yet.

Go for it. That would come in handy. I started a wordpress site that has the daily readings, but using the Douay-Rheims instead of the NAB. I do also use a reading from the CCC. If there is anything I can do just send me a PM or email me at tobinatorstark@gmail.com
