I’m looking to start a personal Bible study. Currently I’m reading the Holy Father’s “Jesus of Nazareth,” and I plan on reading Mary Healy’s latest commentary of the Gospel of Mark. Are there any other books you all might recommend?
 
I highly recommend the Ignatius Bible Study Series by Scott Hahn and Curtis Mitch.👍
 
I would agree that the Ignatius Study Bibles are a great resource with excellent questions and formational information included as well. Another resource I have found to be very useful is the Navarre Study Bibles. We have been using them to study St. Paul’s letters and they are also very detailed, and cover relevant writings from our Popes, Saints, and other theologians, in addition to providing excellent commentary and cross reference information to support the analysis they provide. There are so many brillant and beautiful resources to use in Bible studies. Wishing you much joy and peace in your Bible studies.

It is loaded with commentary from the Early Church Fathers and the Doctors of the Church. It takes every verse of Jonah and gives commentary, and I have St. Jerome and Theodoret’s complete Jonah commentaries on it, and much more of Theodore of Mopsuestia. I am translating St. Cyril of Alexandria’s commentary on Jonah and adding it on as I go. I will be additing to it as I get more Patristic commentary on Jonah, but it has tons so far. Please let me know how may make it better! Thank you!

More information about Jonah in the thread, for example, there exists Jewish commentary on Jonah by Rashi 👍 🙂

I just finished Mary Healy’s book and thoroughly enjoyed it. I just began the Timothy’s and Titus book from the same Catholic Commentary Series.

Ignatius and Navarre are excellent. AgapeBibleStudy.Com has some excellent free Bible Studies as well!
