I have been struggling with ocd in the form of scruples for three years now. Things get better for a little while, and then they get bad again. I’m in a very bad state right now with most of my worries revolving around impure thoughts and fear of making a bad confession. I was planning to go to Confession this morning when I was hit with some extremely vile, impure thoughts that were also sacriligious. I was so upset that I didn’t go, even though I felt I needed to go to clarify a sin that the priest (foreign) did not understand at my confession on Monday. I am in desperate need of prayers, for a clear mind, and for trust in my savior, Jesus Christ. I am so afraid of leaving anything out of my confession for fear it may be a mortal sin and if I don’t confess it, I’ll be committing sacrilige. I’m planning on trying to go to Confession again tomorrow morning. Please pray that I will make a good confession and will have the courage to stay to Mass and receive Jesus in the Eucharist.

Look, God knows your heart before you even think anything! He knows how weak we are, how vulnerable we are. Some more than others.

Keep a picture of Jesus on you and when you start to have these thoughts, quickly get the picture out and beg God to help you. Pray and ask for help and mercy.

Secondly, dont worry about confessing.

Write everything down and take that with you into the confessional. I do as do others.

Just remember that confession is there for us no matter how many times we sin. We need to promise not to commit that sin again but God knows how weak we are and is always there with open arms to hug us and show his undying mercy.

God bless you and may God rest his loving hand on you. 👍

All I can say is God claims you as His own and knows you are human. Continue to go to Mass and Confession, that’s great! But, find some one to talk out this feeling inadequacy towards receiving the forgiveness and grace of God. It may feel like OCD to you and maybe it is, but I suspect you’ve faced some trauma in life that is at the heart of it.

Having a physiologist as well as a spiritual director (specifically a priest) is extremely helpful.

Words of Wisdom

Acquire the habit of speaking to God as if you were alone with God. Speak with familiarity and confidence as to your dearest and most loving friend. Speak of your life, your plans, your troubles, your joys, your fears. In return, God will speak to you–not that you will hear audible words in your ears, but words that you will clearly understand in your heart. These may be feelings of peace, hope, interior joy, or sorrow for sin…gentle knockings at the door of your heart.

***Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death
Amen.

:crossrc:***

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

†

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

†

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Praying for you to trust in our Lord more. He loves us more than we know. Picture an ocean and know that is His mercy and love for you, just you and do not fear, He is always on our side and desires our good.

My love in Christ,

I found this very nice prayer to help make a good confession…

O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, worthy of all my love, I humbly present myself before You. Look upon me with merciful eyes and help me to be reconciled to You by a good confession. But as I can do nothing if You do not help me, I implore You in Your tender mercy to enlighten me, that I may know all my sins and detest them with my whole heart.

O Jesus, ever flowing Fountain of compassion, I approach You to cleanse me from all my sins. O Divine Physician heal my soul. O infinite Love, enkindle the flames of Your Love in my soul that it may love nothing but You. May this Confession bring about in me an entire change in my life so that I may be fully reconciled to You.

Mother of God, you are so charitable to sinners who desire repentance; assist me to make a good Confession. My Guardian Angel, help me to discover the sins I have committed. My Patron Saint and all you Saints of Heaven, pray for me that I may bring forth worthy fruits of repentance. Amen.
