Scrupulosity Progressing

:(I can’t seem to control my thoughts. I know I am culpable for the thoughts that I WILL, but at the same time I do not want to sin. I keep saying to myself “I don’t consent, I don’t will it, I don’t want it” 5 million times over the day and it’s driving my parents crazy.

On another note things that weren’t a near occasion of sin for me, are now becoming a near occasion. In my efforts to keep lustful thoughts out of my head, innocent things like the newspaper and videogames are starting (at least I think, don’t really know) to become near occasions. I’ve even started avoiding looking at people!

If this keeps going, pretty soon boredom and breathing will all I have left, if those don’t become a near occasion as well!

Say a daily Rosary.

It’s a good way to start your campaign in the spiritual warfare.

A lot of people have the same issues.

We deal with it daily.

Frequent confession helps.

Explain to the priest what you are going through.

Say a daily RosaryQUOTE]

I love saying the Rosary, but it gets so dry sometimes that I fall in line with St. Therese of Lisieux I’m having brief respite from the Rosary and saying a few decades instead of the whole thing. It’s kind of difficult to pray the Rosary when the scruples attack.

Do you see a psychologist?
No, but I have anti-anxiety medication that I take. I also have a Spiritual Director that need to schedule another appointment with. Which reminds me of some quotes my regular confessor once said, “Don’t take it serious, or you’ll become delirious, because it’s all so mysterious” and “Jesus is not out to get you”. Which helps the anxiety somewhat, but still doesn’t help the fact that one can commit a Mortal sin in one’s thoughts.

I would consider consulting a psychologist as well. Medication can help, but a psychologist could help you put into practice some thought patterns and activities to relieve anxiety in addition to medication.
