Nah. We’ll be here. My MIL is coming up tomorrow and I may get my family to come up if my grandparents can make the trip. It seems they have no working website so I guess I’ll give the church a call.
I can understand not wanting them there Easter Sunday.
However it truly would be a great time to evangelize to them…

If they even show up on Sunday and see everyone there they might not even stay…

If you know what local church they came from then I guess calling and saying you can’t do it would be your only option…

God Bless

I agree with the above and should you not be able to cancel the appointment, why not greet them at the door with a small chocolate cross or lamb. Explain that you are celebrating the wonderous feast of Easter with your family. Invite them in to share in the celebration, if they refuse , ask them to come back next SATURDAY when you will be free. Give them the small Easter gift. You probably won’t see them again.

I gave the church a call but got an answering machine. I gave my name, address, and told them I apologized but I am a faithful Catholic and Easter means a lot to me and I regret but will have to reschedule…

There are only two world wide churches in this world.

Seventh-day Adventists.

Roman Catholic Church.

We SDA have the Spirit of Prophecy. Since when have Catholics had prophets in their midst?

Another Catholic document once said either the Seventh-day Adventists are right and should keep Saturday holy or the Catholics are right and should keep Sunday holy, there can be no other choice.

It is going to boil down at the end of the day which day you worship on.

Are you going to believe the Bible only or are you going to look for signs and wonders which is all you Catholics have is signs and wonders because none of your teaching is Bibical.

Has it occurred to you that Ellen White`s teachings contradict Scripture, and that her errors indicate she is a false prophet? The Bible warns us to be aware of false prophets.

Moreover, the Adventist Church permits abortion, which violates the Lord`s commandment “Thou shall not kill.” Talk about contradicting Scripture!!! The same goes for Adventist teaching on birth control and divorce. I feel sorry for our Adventist brothers and sisters who have been misled.

Catholic doctrine does not contradict Scripture on anything. Catholic doctrine/teaching, as the New Testament teaches, also includes the oral teachings of the apostles. I recommend you read about the Early Church Fathers.

Sincerely,

daro2096,

What do you think about the evidence presented by “Mommyof02green” that demonstrates that there is no exclusively “right” way of dividing the Ten Commandments?

As an Adventist, I came to believe the Catholics have an open and shut case on this point–so much so that in time, I became a Catholic. What historical sources can you use to prove otherwise?

Let us know how it turned out 🙂

Happy EASTER!! God Bless

Hi Brian,

I am very glad you were able to reschedule. There is a short book called An Adventist and a Catholic that is aboslutely wonderful. It is written by Paul Eirene. I recommend getting a copy or two and sharing it with them. It is an excellent book and represents Catholic and Adventist teachings fairly, while defending the Catholic faith and showing where Adventist teaching is in error.

Even if you don`t share the book with them, it will really help you explain our faith to them, and it will help prepare you for what they will try to argue.

Sincerely,

Maria1212

Oh, good, then I’m covered. I worship on all seven days of the week. 🙂
You will also make the whole world pass an anti-sabbath laws requiring me and everyone else to worship the beast on Sunday or die. I would rather die and obey God than the devil.

I could provide sources but what is the point if you don’t want to know?

Where did you get the idea that I “don’t want to know”? Of course I want to know. Please, I’d like to hear your side of the argument.

One of your co-religionists started a thread regarding this “Sunday Law” rubbish, and it was thoroughly debunked here.

Hi Maria 👋

I’ve done an amazon search for the book you mention here.
However it seems that I can’t find it. 😊

Do you know where a copy can be found?

God Bless and Happy Easter :heaven:

To the OP (should you check this before Sunday):

If they don’t get the message/show up at your door anyway, I think it is okay to let them know that today isn’t a good day for you; you have guests and it is a religious celebration for you.

Or you could invite them to stay if they arrive in time for the after meal coffee but make let them know if they stay, instruction or debate or anything that smacks of it is not okay as it is a day of rest and celebration for you. Risky that, because while you know they are sneaky you don’t know if they are familiar with common ettiquette or if they are social morons.

I also, would not reschedule the appointment on Sunday; ask them to get back to you next week (or whenever).

No you don’t.

You would just find another excuse to throw it out.
Okay, I don’t know how you know that he doesn’t want to know but I want to know but please start a new thread; it’s easy to do so.

Daro, I have asked twice and the moderator has asked once-will you please start another thread if you want to discuss the SDA faith? I am asking a specific question about a specific situation and did not start this thread to hear a repeat of SDA evangelization

I AM BEGGING!.

I will? Geez, I’d better get cracking on that. 41 years of being a Catholic and it’s never occurred to me to do any such thing. Especially since the Catholic Church teaches religious liberty for all.

“Nobody may be forced to act against his convictions, nor is anyone to be restrained from acting in accordance with his conscience in religious matters in private or in public, alone or in association with others, within due limits. THis right is based on the very nature of the human person, whopse dignity enables him to freely assent to the divine truth which transcends the temporal order … the right to religious liberty is … a natural right of the human person to ciil liberty …” Catechism of the Catholic Church 2106, 2108.

I’ve seen him on other threads with the same scattergun approach to evangelizing.
