I hope things go well for you.
My suggestion is to actually read the book, The Great Controversy. Do some critical reading, that is with a Bible in hand and taking notes. Highlight passages where it strays from history or the Bible.(And there will be many) Write corrections in the margins. Only by arming yourself with this knowledge can you effectivly dispute their claims. If they see that you are not ignorant to their teachings or the Bible they may back off on their own. Chances are they won’t be able to answer without attacking or reverting to the old standard claims and may never return. If you do get into a debate with them make or make another date to speak with them there are lots of sources that can help you.

Saying that, most SDA’s are loving God fearing people. They are really only doing the best they can to follow Christ. The problem is that once they see things through SDA glasses, its hard for them to see anything else.

The funny thing is, Catholics and Adventsist actually have alot in common. More than they would like to admit.

Anyway, hope this helps.

No you don’t.

You would just find another excuse to throw it out.
“Excuse to throw it out”?

The Catholics on this thread present essays from Jewish and Christan authors, who demonstrate from the historical data that there have always been different, legitimate systems of numbering the Ten Commandments.

Your response: that I’m unworthy of an answer.

Daro if your really interested in reading about the catholic responses about people being forced to worship sunday, there is a great thread called " National Sunday Law", and no-one is trying to throw out your sources, if your gonna start a debate your gonna have to expect someone to challenge you a little bit, and it so happens that the debate isn’t really going well for you.

I will continue to pray for you.

I posted the link to that thread for daro on another thread. Don’t know if he’s responded to it, though.

I am a seventh day adventist myself and I am 18. I do not celebrate Easter. Didn’t God make the world in 7 days and rest on the seventh. And if they proclaim “Sunday” to be the seventh why are they celebrating easter? After all God rested the second day and rose on the third. He rose sunday. But rested Saturday therefore saturday was the sabbath. He RESTED SATURDAY. AND ROSE SUNDAY. That’s NOT sneaky!

Sunday was proclaimed as the first and the eight day, I never heard of sunday being called the seventhday or perhaps I’m wrong, plus sunday is when the new covenant took effect ( that’s is just a saying that helps me understand )

That’s not what the OP meant by “sneaky”…

OP had a young lady come to the office selling books.
He bought a book… (The young lady DID NOT mention that she was an Adventist. She, also, DID NOT mention that the religious books were Adventist books). This in the OP opinion was “sneaky”.

Although I bet by now the OP wished he would have asked more questions like what type of school, religion etc…

He filled out a request for more BIBLE STUDY MATERIALS and low and behold 2 members of the Adventist church come knocking on the door. I don’t think this was the “materials” that the OP was looking for… Was this another “sneaky” moment?

The 2 Adventist at the door asked to come back again next Sunday… In that moment of confusion and being “hospitable” the OP said “yes”.

He now regrets saying yes because 1) He doesn’t want to lead the Adventist on by thinking they have a chance to convert him. 2) Its Easter Sunday and at the moment they asked to come back he failed to remember that.

He has tried to get a hold of the people that showed up at the door to tell them that he does not wish to meet with them tomorrow (Easter Sunday).

Hopefully they got his message….

God Bless and Happy Easter.

BabyGurl,
Welcome to the forum… What does God making the world in 7 days have to do with us Celebrating Easter on the first day, when he resurrected?

Thanks

Thanks Mommyof02green! That was a remarkably succinct retelling of my issues!👍

Speaking of which, none of the Adventists returned my call. However, being fresh from the Vigil, I am ready to spread the Catholic truth should they arrive at my doorstep!:cool:

So glad to hear! I have been praying for you since first reading your thread. I just haven’t commented until now.

See I have one of those personalities that would LOOOOOVE to have SDAs over for Easter!😉 I am always gentle, but I always speak the Truth. It sounds like you are really being led by The Holy Spirit to be right where He wants you and say just what He has in store. Pray, calm your nerves, open your mouth, and let The Holy Spirit do the talking.

Have a blessed Easter, whether they attend or not.

You’re Welcome!

Well Good luck (today)…

Let us know…

Will do! It is so cool today that we may just be hunting Easter eggs after lunch, about when they had asked to come back. Wouldn’t that be fun…😛

Well, it’s 5:30 pm here and I guess my answering machine message made it through. No sign of SDA missionaries. I actually slept a few hours this afternoon.😃 Except for when I woke up to accept my lost wallet -sans $8…😛
