I say there’s a population explosion -
I remember a EWTN promo - saying it wasn’t true.
That everyone in America - could live in Texas -comfortably with house and yard.

Anyways.
Why would God, do you think, need so many humans on Earth ?

(Never mind who believes in what their cultures believe)

It’s actually the population of the whole Earth that could fit comfortably in Texas. The population of Earth is 7.62 billion. Texas has 268,597 square miles. That means you could fit the whole world in Texas pretty easily, with a population density of 28,370 people per square mile – That’s less than the population density of Hoboken, New York, and they still manage to have shops and homes and entertainment centers even with that kind of population.

Also, God wants so many sons and daughters because He wants us to fill the Earth and subdue it, but moreso because He wants to fill heaven.

Btw check out overpopulationisamyth.com for more info.

I’ve been to Texas. There are parts where “comfortably” is doubtful.

I think of illegals - millions - mostly young men -
flooding into various countries - including America -

That might work if it weren’t for places like the Gobi, or the Sahara, or the Amazon for that matter.

Overpopulation is a real phenomenon, but it’s not as bad as the Chicken Littles would have you believe. We need to be aware of it, and we need to consider it when planning for society as a whole, but I have perhaps an irrationally firm faith in the ingenuity of humans to find a way through it.

From what I can tell these estimates don’t account for the necessary livestock, vegetation, and natural resources for things like infrastructure and defense for a truly “comfortable” life.

I’m sorry, but a website with a domain name like “Over Population Myth dot Com” sounds about as credible as the very sources they’re trying to discredit.

You would’ve made a good Know Nothing a hundred years ago. Except for the whole being Catholic thing, of course.

God told us to be fruitful and multiply. One possible reason for this could be strength in numbers - people formed tribes to be able to share the hunting and gathering, kind of “insuring” one another, to help with the raising of children, take turns keeping watch against wild animals etc. More people allowed more developments in science, society etc.

It’s only recently we’ve started to think of more people as a burden rather than a benefit, due to competition over limited resources. However, we don’t have to think of it that way. We could think that the new challenge is to figure out how to use resources more efficiently to support a larger number of people with the same resources - think of things like renewable energy, hybrid cars etc. Also we could think of ways to expand beyond the Earth

Be fruitful and multiply - was way way way back in the beginning days of creation.
I’m not sure if God - wants that saying - to hold sway in 2019.

I’d love to know the stat on births - out of wedlock -
Compared to people - who sought children - in the framework of an honest marriage.

Do the math. Every one of the 7 billion souls on earth could have 1,000 square feet for themselves - individually - all within the State of Texas. 2,500 square feet if they lived in Alaska. Yeah, Texas is a better example.

It’s true.

Why so many? Rather, why so few? Heaven will hold them all. We are created to to know, love and serve God. We do that partially now, but with complete satisfaction in the next life.

Not enough?

We’d still need room for enough water, space to grow food, etc. So I suppose the entire earth could live in Texas, if some other beings outside of Texas were growing our food and raising livestock.

I remember What St. Teresa of Calcutta said., “we have the poor because people refuse to share.”

OVERPOP - never heard that word before. 😛

There’s a gal at my work place who has 3 kids from three guys. Never married.

I heard someone say that the reason why women have kids - is because they want to.

I know God love’s kids -
But China - I think has some strict laws now.
