I got one of these for my wedding in June, but haven’t used it yet. It seems great for sealing things that could go in the freezer for a long time, and I would like to start preparing lots of meals in advance and freezing them. Anyone have an ideas for this nifty little machine or any foods/recipes that freeze well?

What I use mine for is to buy larger quantities of meat and freeze them in meal sized portions. Sometimes the price of meat is less per pound if you buy the mega sized package. Ground beef is like that, so are packages of chicken parts. Its really handy to take out a package of frozen meat that will be just enough for the meal I plan to make from it.

we had one and used it for years to freeze stuff from the garden. we just washed and cut up the tomatoes, peppers, basil, green onions, put them through the blender, and froze the puree. there is a knach to doing this with something that liquid (let it cool first), and it takes to people, but you can do it.

we also just froze batches of the cut up veggies.

it is also great for leftovers or plan-overs, to freeze in one-meal size for an individual or couple. because the air comes out it is better than using a “manual” freezer bag, and when you thaw it you don’t lose as much liquid so it tastes better.

DD still uses it the way Arlene does, but I think they changed the plastic used in the bags to make it healthier.

I had one before I was married and used it all the time then, don’t know why but I don’t think I have used it once since I married.

I would make a few meals on Sundays, portion them out onto paper plates and then seal them up. I never cooked during the week and loved it. Maybe I need to dig it out 🤷

🙂 Yes we have one and love it! We like to get meats in bulk and seperate and freeze them. Also great for freezing sauces and etc…

This summer I am going to plant lots of veggies in my garden and then make a ton of spagetti sauce to freeze for easy meals
