Due to new information concerning the completion of the cannonized Scripture, my New King James Version, though has been helpful and beneficial to me for several years, feels like an incomplete library. Does anyone know of a good Catholic Bible I could use? Preferably, one translated from the Greek, not Latin. One that reads in modern english, not “Thus God hath formed man of the slime of thy earth, and Breathetheth into-ith his nostrils-iths the breath of life-eth.” Also, a study Bible would be good, with cross references. Anyone know a Bible like that? For the record, my reasons for “switching Bibles” can be summarized in these two videos:

This is what was recommended to me by amazon.com, surprisingly. Does it meet the criteria I’ve adressed in the OP?
It does actually it is translated from the Hebrew and Greek with reference made to the Latin text for clarity on occasion. the Ignatius study Bible uses the RSV-2CE and is a good NT study Bible and they are working on the OT just now which should be out in a few years

Try Ignatius Press.com. I am sure you already know of the Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur requirements for a Catholic Bible.

I too was going to reccomend the RSV 2nd Catholic Edition. Ignatius press just published a New Testament Study Bilbe (also RSV 2nd Catholic edition),. It has introductions to each book, footnotes helping one to understand the text. It has some essays, maps, word Studies.
I hope this is helpful.

God bless

RSV-CE or Jerusalem Bible. Not a big fan of either. I prefer my Douay-Rheims, but outside that Bible it would be either of these 2

Well i actually have a few bibles…since coming to christ i have been a sponge now that i am coming to the catholic church i have 2 a RSV study bible on the New testament 2nd edition which is very helpful …also just throwing it out the and its not exactly what you were wanting its The New Jerusalem Bible. Its a Hebrew Translation and very easy to read…I really like it.

Hope this helps…👍
