Searching for contemplative group

I am beginning my postulancy for the Camaldolese Benedictine Oblature. I am hoping to find others that are into the contemplative movement. Can anyone suggest any good Catholic websites that are focused on the contemplative community.

Contemplative Practice isn’t a movement per se, being it’s been part of the Catholic Church since the 4th Century and part of the Old Testament as well.

Contemplative prayer is not understood in this forum and generally treated as New Age.

Not the case, but the attitude and debates it causes, are what keeps contemplatives like myself from participating at CAF.

I saw your thread and thought I’d share.

There isn’t really a Contemplative Group, but there is plenty of sites with information on Contemplative Prayer.

@JimR-OCDS, you’re right that this topic doesn’t fare well on CAF. I wonder if it might be possible to form an email group with interested folks as a way of supporting and encouraging each other. Would anyone be interested?
 
We could do a group pm too. I think people are using that function as a group function
 
Maybe all the people who had a fit about the topic before have left, so folks could talk about it again in a rational manner. It’s very obviously part of Church tradition. I don’t think a handful of opinionated people should be permitted to shut a discussion down in any event.
 
Have you visited either New Camaldoli Hermitage in Big Sur or Incarnation Monastery in Berkeley? I was blessed to spend a few wonderful days at the Big Sur hermitage back in 2008. I thought about becoming a Camaldolese Benedictine Oblate as well, but that thought is on hold for now.

In my time on CAF, I have also seen many opinions regarding contemplative prayer, and many contributors seem to feel that their way is the only way! That said, I have found the teaching of the Benedictine Father John Main and what he termed Christian Meditation to be helpful. About the WCCM | WCCM You might be able to locate a parish near you with such a prayer group.
