Searching for scripture verse

Hi, all. I have a feeling this will come out inarticulately, so I am thankful for any help anyone could give me.

I am attempting to relocate a verse and driving myself crazy. It was along the lines of how one day women will tell men they don’t want marital/financial support, but basically using them to take his name and to have babies in order to avoid the shame of being single and barren. I THOUGHT it was in Isiah, but I just skimmed it and didn’t locate it. My second guess is that I could have read this in Song of Songs. I’m having trouble figuring out how to search this online with keywords.

Does any of this remotely ring a bell to anyone?

Last night on Dr. Drew, they were talking about a man who has 20 children with 11 different women. Then on the same show they were talking about who is more important in a woman’s life, her husband or her children. It lead to a basic discussion about men being expendable. I just kept thinking about this verse and how much it applies to our times. Of course, women today don’t have much social pressure to take the man’s name or even marry him these days, so perhaps we’ve surpassed even this prophecy

That passage has always been troubling… any conditions that would lead to that would be some very dire ones, indeed.

I never thought of it quite in the context of how society is today. It does seem that in more developed nations especially, that males are less and less “needed”. Women marry later, if at all… have children later, if at all. Because of the economic conditions worldwide, many men are unemployed/underemployed in all age brackets. What was once a one income family became two after WWII and has gone back to one - without a man, many times. Times sure have changed quickly. I think a lot of men are having a general identity crisis sociologically. Since the 70’s there is no clear cut social role for them. Many men are nominal or non-practicing Christians… it is a different world for them and it seems to be passing many men by.

I wonder what changes would make Isaiah 4 be tru in today’s world?

Also, I’ve known too many women who have chosen the hardships of being single moms because they want complete authority over the kids. If they don’t put his name on the birth certificate, she can completely control visitation, etc… Something is obviously backwards.

Very true! I know someone personally that has done that.
