Are you Searching for something ?

perhaps you are comfortable in yourself , but still searching but just not sure what it is ?

I’m asking this because of Personal experience, there have been times in my life where I had been financially secure, secure in my Faith, secure in all I have, but still want more,
And never Quiet Sure as to what it is I want ,
How would you deal with this ?
Had you ever been in this situation of searching for something so illusive you know not what it is ?
 
It’s a relationship with God.
Not knowledge, not memorization of Scripture or Catechism, but a real relationship with the ONE.

He’s calling you. Answer the phone.
 
God is infinite, but we can hold him and his infinite love in our hearts.
Consequently, our hearts have an infinite-sized gap waiting to hold the infinite. 🙂
We can try to fill that infinite-sized hole with finite things— people, stuff, power, money, supermodel girlfriends, whatever— but finite things will never sufficiently satisfy that infinite-sized gap.
In an amusing anecdote, nowadays (as in, the 90’s and the 00’s, when I first heard about it), many people’s careers rocket to the upper income levels in their 20’s and 30’s, when before, you’d have to put in 20 or 30 years’ worth of work in your field to get to those income brackets. And those young, affluent people were discovering very quickly-- it’s not houses or cars or money that bring satisfaction. And so rather than chasing after that dream of finding satisfaction in “stuff”, they’re able to realize what’s truly important and fulfilling in life.
So-- with that knowledge-- what do we do with it? How do we change ourselves? How do we pursue God?
 
Sit in quiet solitude in front of the Blessed Sacrament & be open to what God wants of you. Pray to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom in your time of need.

Try to find a more disciplined spiritual life. Try to pray at a regular time. Try to be of service to other a in a more regular way. Try daily scripture reading. Try a regualr study habits.

I think this take away some of the wringing of the hands and constantly wondering “what is God trying to tell me?” and changing it into a more dynamic process that you are steering.

In the book To Save a Thousand Souls the author tells young men discerning a calling “God can’t drive a parked car.” If you set up regular habits you are telling God “I"v got the car in drive, let me know where to go.”

I think searching is just a part of life itself. A search is in all we do unless we are dead. It’s in our makeup.

For example, Tiger Woods is constantly changing his swing to find a better one and he even says he will always be looking and changing. Because it can be better.

A salesman is always looking for a better pitch, or tweeking the one he has. Because it can be better.

Well I could go on an on, but I think it is really self evident that we always do this in so many areas of our lives. Because it can be better and we know it.

So we are and will be always searching … because it can be better and we want it to be better. We are never satisfied and we shouldn’t be…unless we are dead or died inside.

And a Catholic I believe should always be searching for a better way in his spiritual life with Jesus. Because it can be better. And it can be better unless we died inside. And we must never give up making progress … even if it is ever so slow. Because sometimes it isn’t evident that we made progress until we compare where we are now and where we were 4-5 years ago.
 
Aren’t we all searching for Truth? Isn’t that why people practice any religion, adhere to any philosophy, to seek Truth?
