Religious leaders across the US have vowed to mobilise their congregants to push for gun control legislation and support politicians willing to take on the gun lobby, saying the time has come for action beyond praying for and comforting the families of those killed, reports the New York Times in theMuswellbrook Chronicle.http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/cathnews/RSS/~4/aDqXPw_0P1k

Does the Catholic Church have an official position on gun control and second amendment rights?

Don’t donate any money to an organization that is against your second amendment rights.

While I wouldn’t expect the LCMS to involve us in this kind of movement, I will continue to support the second amendment regardless.

I just brought a gun cabinet for my husband. We own many weapons, and other then the one kept at arms reach, most will be locked up.

It’s not so much a threat to my right to Keep and Bare arms that I am worried about loosing (and worried I am), its the fact that this may be just the beginning of an attact on ALL my freedoms as as American citizen.

Gun control laws will NOT stop someone who is mentally unbalanced from commiting what ever form of violence they are planning, they will just simply find another weapon of choice or convience. Maybe, just maybe we should use stronger measures when dealing with mentally ill people and not have to jump through so many legal hoops. Just a thought to ponder on.

Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. - Exodus 34:14

Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you; - Deuteronomy 6:14

They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, ‘These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.’ - Exodus 32:8

Do not follow other gods to serve and worship them; do not provoke me to anger with what your hands have made. Then I will not harm you." - Jeremiah 25:6

And this has what to do with the Second Amendment…?

(55) Evangelicum Vitae, Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace The International Arms Trade: an Ethical Reflection, and Catechism say using a gun for legitimate defense is a right

Gun control is an issue of prudential judgement
