The Second Coming of Christ, by Paramahansa Yogananda:

          [indent]                 Did                  Jesus, like the ancient sages and masters of the East, teach meditation                  as the way to enter "the kingdom of heaven"? 

           Were there "hidden teachings" given                  to his immediate disciples, which have been lost or suppressed                  through the centuries? 

           Did he really teach that all non-Christians                  are excluded from God's kingdom? And does a literal reading of                  the Gospel truly probe the depths of his epoch-making message                  for humanity?

           Yes, yes, *and two resounding no's,                says Paramahansa Yogananda in *The Second Coming of Christ,*                a monumental work on the "original teachings of Jesus." And his                conclusions tally remarkably with religious scholars' ongoing explorations                of the profound esoteric and experiential dimensions of early Christianity,                as revealed in the "Gnostic gospels" and other recently discovered                manuscripts lost since the second and third centuries.*                Following are some excerpts from                  the book:

But ordinary                people, unprepared in their receptivity, are not able either to                comprehend or to practice the deeper wisdom-truths. From parables,                they glean according to their understanding simpler truths from                the wisdom I send out to them. By practical application of what                they are able to receive, they make some progress toward redemption."...

           How do the receptive perceive truth, whereas                the unreceptive "seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither                do they understand"? The ultimate truths of heaven and the kingdom                of God, the reality that lies behind sensory perception and beyond                the cogitations of the rationalizing mind, can only be grasped by                intuition  —  awakening the intuitive knowing, the                pure comprehension, of the soul.

“Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and they eyes they have closed; lest at any times they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal dem. But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.” Matt. 13:13-16.

It is more dangerous if we know God’s will and do not obey, than not understand God’s will at all. If we clearly know God’s will and do not obey him, then God must judge us more severe than if we do not know his will. Therefore, God will not reveal his will to us before we are willing to obey him.

Of mercy , God has made it so, that those who do not believe in Jesus, they can neither understand God’s word. They do not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. Therefore Jesus spoke to them in parables, and explained everything to his disciples. Of this we can understand that our own will, is very important for our salvation. If we are not willing to believe in Jesus, we can not understand him or his message.

There is no evidence that Jesus taught transcendental meditation.

There is also no credible evidence that Jesus taught his immediate disciples anything other than what the Catholic Church has passed on. Surely Peter who was given the keys to the kingdom and was called “the Rock” by Jesus would pass on what his Master taught him. Surely, John, who was at the foot of the cross with Mary would do the same.

I agree with you that Jesus did not teach explicitly that it was impossible to go to heaven if you were not a Christian.

What is said here is patently evil, the Catholic Church has never taught TM and Jesus says get behind me satan.

And Sung Yung Moon claims he is the second coming of Christ.

We just need to preach Catholicism a lot more. Lets get these Benedictines, Dominicans, and Augustinian monks or friars out there and once more spreading the word of the Lord.
