Second Coming.

I know the bible states that we will not know when the second coming will occur, But when do you think it will happen? Soon? In a long time?

And if you do think it is soon, explain your reason.

Hey there. Within Catholic understanding, nobody really knows. It could be tomorrow or it could be 5,000 years from now. Personally, I think it is going to be soon (how soon, I don’t know). I base this thought upon the hatred and wrongness of our society and the world. Look at all the horrible and unjust wars, the people starving because nobody helps them, abject poverty, unnecessary greed, dictatorships, immorality in culture, depraved and scandalous clergy, heretics in the Church, etc. Also, there are many prophecies from various saints throughout the ages. In the link on my signature, Our Lady made very significant predictions which seem to be playing out now (though they could really be intended for a later date).

The important thing is to ardently believe. I would large concur with the previous poster but I suppose that in every century men have speculated that it would be soon.
Belief is everything.

Logically we would think the Anti-Christ must appear before the second coming of Jesus, therefore, First the Anti-Christ must appear. You will know the Anti-Christ when:

1. he solves many problems but many of his ways deny God and His Word
2. as a result of him solving problems, many people adore him, follow him and claim he is God or a god
3. he subsequently says “yes, I am God” (or a god)

This must happen first along with the prophesies of Daniel and in Revelation.

But the Word supersedes any logic… therefore we have to understand Christ can come at ANY time even if events preceding and/or concurring with his second coming do not reflect (to our understanding) what is written in Daniel or Revelation. Christ said only the Father knows when He will return… not even Christ knows it. So we all should be prepared by serving, loving, knowing and worshiping God with all our mind, heart and strength and accepting Christ as our Savior.

We are not waiting for Jesus to return on a cloud of glory. God is waiting for you to return yourself as the glory of God. Your very life in its fullness is the second coming of Christ. Christ is present in you, as you…rejoice!
