According to the Catechism (#677), we die.
The Church will enter the glory of the kingdom only through this final Passover, when she will follow her Lord in his death and Resurrection. The kingdom will be fulfilled, then, not by a historic triumph of the Church through a progressive ascendancy, but only by God’s victory over the final unleashing of evil, which will cause his Bride to come down from heaven. God’s triumph over the revolt of evil will take the form of the Last Judgement after the final cosmic upheaval of this passing world.

This quote says nothing about everyone dying.

According to the Bible, the dead shall be raised first and then those who are left alive shall be caught up in the clouds with Jesus Christ.

Although, as I recall the Roman Catechism (aka the Catechism of the Council of Trent) said that at the time of this catching up we will actually momentarily die so that everyone may have their bodies given back to them by God.

Well, for one thing, if you are alive, you will see the King of kings come riding down on a white horse with his army behind Him, those who were in heaven and the angels.

Just be ready to meet the Lord. See Him come down or ride behind Him.

I plan on being on a magnificent white horse with my sister Mary next to me on her horse, her red hair blowing behind her and will be grinning ear to ear.

Look for us.

There’s a really good study on this that you can get that will cover what the Church teaches about the Last Things and some of the modern n-C errors about it. It’s from San Juan Catholic Seminars.

Where does the 1000 year reign fit in to the end times?
Well, the Catholic church takes an amillinial stance.

The literal reading says that when Jesus steps onto mount Olive , it devides into two and He walks straight through to the Eastern Gate, which has been opened by the earthquake. he then sits upon the Throne of David and there will be 1000 years of perfect peace. Your babies can play with vipers and have no worry.

So, when will this 1000 years of peace going to come? And would Jesus have to leave again in order for satan to do what is predicted he will do? I mean, I belive that he will, for a short period of time, be given free rein over the earth and the people living there. I believe that it’s referrend to, at least in some protestant circles, as the seven year tribulation. When the years of peace comes, I don’t know. All I know is that I need to be ready to meet Jesus when He comes. Whenever that will be.

Regarding the Millennium, a typical interpretation is that the “thousand years” in fact is not meant to be taken literally but interpreted simply as a very long period of time, one more or less equal to the age of the Church minus (I would think) the tribulation coming to the Church shortly before the Second Coming. According to that thinking we are probably in the “thousand years” right now.

Nope, you have it a bit backward.

By the time Jesus has come again ( let us put aside rapture, pre, mid, post, non, -trib thingies for now), The 7 year tribulation has passed. It is over. He will rule the earth for 1000 years. So will David , the apostles, those who had been called up and translated into their new bodies will help rule. He is King Jesus in Jerusalem and rules with an iron Rod. IOW, His Way.

meanwhile Satan has been thrown into a place called the Bottomless pit and is bound there by angels. After the 1000 years, Satan will be loosed for 'a little while". believe it or not, after this beautiful perfect world of 1000years, there are yet still some humanity who joins Satan for one more rebellion. it goes to show you just how evil we really can be.This is the return of the war of Gog and magog( like WWI and WWII) and they are completely defeated by Jesus.

it is then that world is renewed by a purging of fire and is made new again like it was in the days of Eden. At some point there is a judgement called the Great White throne where all from hell and Lucifer and the fallen angels are formally sentenced to be thrown into the lake of Fire(the Second death) forever.

The New Jerusalem(the City of heaven) comes down to be in the air above the new earth and we shall enter into the time called eternity.

But you are so right.Just be ready. No matter how interesting, or how mis-interrupted, or mis-guided, anyone is as to how it will all happen, this is the truth: He will come again, we win, Satan is forever out of our hair, and all has been made new again.
