Reading Cardinal Newman’s book Apologia Pro Vita Sua helped bring me into the Catholic Church, so I welcome this announcement. He was a great defender of the truth of our faith.
I may try to read that again. I tried when I was about 16 and got 3 pages in and quit. It seemed to me at that age like a great belaboring of the obvious. Perhaps I will appreciate it more as an adult.
I still think Newman is a great guy.
I read it the first time when I was 30 and it was not an easy read for me either, so I understand. But it’s well worth the effort, so I would definitely recommend you give it another shot.
