So, I have been reading St. Louis de Montfort’s *Secret of the Rosary *and in it he instructs us to not just pray 5 decades of the rosary a day but all 15.

I am wondering has anyone read this and does anyone say all 15? In the book he stresses how the rosary can convert any sinner. I say this because I was once away from the Catholic faith and my mom told me that my father prayed all 15 decades a day and I always credited his praying the rosary for my return. This happens also to be his book I picked up after he died. So, I believe saying just 5 is good for the conversion of sinners but if more said 15 decades a day… Maybe? What does anyone think?

It’s really hard for me to do all 15 in a day (I watch children all day, so it’s really tough to get even two minutes to run to the potty!) and I usually pray as many decades as I can in the evenings before bed. I think praying all 15 would be amazing (and something I’m working toward!) but I also think it’s important to really focus on the prayers no matter how many decades we are able to pray. 🙂

Sometimes I find it hard just to say one rosary a day but I did hear once that when Our Lady said at Fatima to pray the rosary that is what she meant, all 15, though not sure. 🤷

It’s good to do 15, of course 🙂

In the past, people always did 15 pretty much, that is called “the Rosary”. Now, what we mean when we say the Rosary, is 5 decades. (there’s also the extra Luminous mysteries now).

If you can say the 15, of course, go ahead! 🙂 nothing wrong with that… you don’t have to say them all in a row… you can do 5 in the morning, 5 during the day, 5 in the evening… if you do this with love and not automatically, I’m sure this would be a great thing 🙂

For a while last year I prayed 20 decades usually every day. It certainly did help!! I must admit when I do that I end up saying Hail Mary’s while I am sleeping. But yes, it certainly does help with prayer intentions it also helps to make you holier and to have less tendancy towards sin. I miss that fervor. I am not doing 20 decades a day really at the moment. I thought I would give it a little rest so as not to feel its a burden. But what I have found is that if you really enjoy the Rosary it is actually a joy to pray more than 5 decades a day. Did you know that Padre Pio said like 50 single Rosaries a day…
He said the Rosary is the “Weapon”
I think a Saint has said that one Hail Mary said with devotion and love is worth more than 100 Hail Marys said with haste and carelessness. So I guess just do what you feel is best.
Though , of course I do encourage as many Rosaries as possible, the world is a better place the more Rosaries are prayed.
And on that note I think I will go pray now as you have inspired me. It tends to always happen that as soon as my enthusiasm for the Rosary wanes, I see something somewhere that reminds me to always be devoted to that prayer and you cant help but be drawn to pray it when you read of the Promises, like seriously it does help the fervor hearing how you will be rewarded,.
  1. Whosoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary shall receive signal graces.
  2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.
  3. The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin and defeat heresies.
  4. It will cause good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire for Eternal Things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
  5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary shall not perish.
  6. Whosoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its Sacred Mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just he shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of Eternal Life.
  7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the Sacraments of the Church.
  8. Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the Light of God and the plenitude of His Graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the Merits of the Saints in Paradise.
  9. I shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.
  10. Code:
The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of Glory in Heaven.
  11. Code:
You shall obtain all you ask of me by recitation of the Rosary.
  12. Code:
All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.
  13. Code:
I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire Celestial Court during their life and at the hour of death.
  14. Code:
All who recite the Rosary are my Sons, and brothers of my Only Son Jesus Christ.
  15. Code:
Devotion to my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.
You should also consider joining the Rosary Confraternity to receive the benefits of that , but you should commit yourself to say the 3 original sets of mysteries at least once a week in order to be receiving the benefits from this Confraternity. If you cannot pray the Rosary that much after joining it is not considered a sin as its not binding under pain of sin.
Ps~ you have encouraged me to change my avatar and signature heheh 😃 👍

Right after I read the book I did 15 decades a day for a couple of weeks, but I couldn’t keep it up. I have no doubt it’s better than saying 5, but if you get discouraged remember 5 is better than none.

I’m another one who prayed the full 15 mysteries of the Rosary a day for a while after reading The Secret of the Rosary. I’ve been thinking about trying again after reading about how people with more responsibilities than I can manage to make more time for prayer, especially the Pope(s)!

This thread and someone sharing these verses, can’t be a coincidence:

6 Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians (RSV) 4)

Whether the full Rosary or other prayers, I think it’s a hint to exercise the prayer muscles.

Thank you. I am the same way. When I see or read something about the rosary I feel pulled to pray.

I went to the website of the confraternity and joined. I didn’t realize exactly what it was before but how awesome. 👍

Also, I like your avatar and signature. 🙂
