How easy is it for most of us to recognize our failure in the secular world as to our behavior and to step up and apologize. I am sorry, I should not have done that . . . or said that. . . I am sorry for offending you. . . . or embarassing you. The outcome of such an act is to repair our human connections, network, family, work environment - which we were wise enough to recognize as broken and need of repair.
Yet, when it comes to our mortal sins, how long do we go between confessions. How many times will we play the lottery with mortal sins on our souls because we cannot apologize to GOD through a priest.
Yeah, sure , fine when we are looking at our friends or peers, apologies pour out of our mouths in public, but even when we are separated by a screen from a priest we cannot find the time to go and confess our sins and apologize to GOD.
That disconnect goes to the credit of satan. he has brought us to the level of placing “public confession” to our friends - to repair our secular life - above and beyond the need for “private confession” to GOD through the priest to repair our immortal life with GOD.
If you do not attend to confession frequently, 30 days at max, yet apologize to another human being within those same 30 days, you are subjecting yourself to the world over your eternal relationship wth GOD.
How can we possibly explain all the public secular confessions we gave to our fellow man, if we die with mortal sins on our souls.
