I WILL ALWAYS RETURN - Bryan Adams

(Not a rock song per se, but it’s from a rather secular movie, Spirit Stallion of the Cimmaron. :D)

I hear the wind call your name
It calls me back home again
It sparks up the fire - a flame that still burns

Oh it’s to you I’ll always return
I still feel your breath on my skin
I hear your voice deep within
The sound of my lover - a feeling so strong
It’s to you - I’ll always belong

Tom Russell, who’s known for thought-provoking country-rock songs, has a song about radical forgiveness - or at least compassion - for those who have fallen the farthest:

Out on the freight lines there’s an old hobo camp
Where a drunk man lay sleeping, a ragged old tramp
And the lines in his face mark a life on the run
Is he somebody’s husband, somebody’s son?

Every week the newspaper tells a story of rage
Where the victims lay scattered all across the front page
And there’s always some loner on a spree with a gun
Is he somebody’s husband, somebody’s son?

Chorus:

From the death rows of prison to the soup kitchen door
Each soul is an equal in the eyes of the Lord
Though hatred consumes them, once they were loved
They where somebody’s husband, somebody’s son

So out on your journey down the highway of life
Cherish your mother, crave the love of your wife
And forget not the outcast and the homeless were once
Somebody’s husband, somebody’s son

Chorus:

From the death rows of prison to the soup kitchen door
Each soul is an equal in the eyes of the Lord
Though hatred consumes them, once they were loved
They where somebody’s husband, somebody’s son

A few tunes I’ve been compiling:

Lovely, Love My Family - The Roots

One Love - Bob Marley (Rastafarian who converted to Orthodoxy Ethiopian Christianity - pretty close to being Catholic)

I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For - U2

40 - U2

Salt of the Earth - Rolling Stones

Home - Phillip Philips

**After Forever **- Black Sabbath (Most of the band is Catholic, Ozzy is Anglican)

What’s So Funny About Peace Love and Understanding - Elvis Costello (Raised Catholic)

I’ll find more!
