Secularism and atheism are more of a threat than Islam will ever be.

No, not really. The aruguement you presenting is simply silly. Just because some one believes something to be true does not make the person an extremist or fanatic. It might make him delusional if what he believes is not true but the pro life position is the correct position. Therefore, the person who is prolife and believes the issue to be balck and white is not delusional.
However, the person who is pro choice is of a completely different breed. This is a person who believes that it is morally acceptable to murder the smallest, weakest, and most innocent of human life. Such is complete insanity. But if the person is not insane, then they must be dishonest because they are propgating the lie that infanticide is morally acceptable.
I don’t want to derail the thread, but don’t many pro-choicers claim that the baby isnt really a human life yet, able to survive on his own? I think that’s how they justify their position. Anyway, I just don’t get how a practicing Catholic could be pro-choice. Then again, nothing seems to be black and white sometimes.

They do make that claim. But it is such a clearly false claim that I think that they must either be dishonest or crazy.

I can’t imagine why I’m on AG’s ignore list. Either that or nothing I have addressed to AG is in dispute. 😃

I’m only hostile to the importation of mass-produced, high cholesterol, coca-cola culture American paranoias into the European market.
You SHOULD be hostile. We are the Eeeeeeevil Americans, and we WILL assimilate you and yours into our nasty, high-cholesterol, mass-produced, viva la coca-cola, strip-mall-loving, baseball-playing, McDonald’s-eating, Fred Flintstone-enjoying, mediocre-automobile-driving culture. All pristine, refined, nuanced, highly-evolved Eurotastes will be swept aside for our Worldwide Caliphate of Trash. All resistance is futile. BWAH-ha-ha!

/“paranoia”, it strikes deep, and into your heart it will creep 😃

Hey I never use the ignore function. I think I missed that one, let me see…

If there is no God or no authority transcendent of humanity, then how can you say that Christian principles are any better than Muslim principles or the principles established by the Aztecs, who partook in human sacrifice, or any of the cannabilistic tribes that have existed? If humanity is the ultimate authority on morality, then who is right? And, why does it matter?
I think there is one rule that most of us can agree on regardless of beliefs or biases…THE GOLDEN RULE.

I think this is the best measuring stick for determining whether a religious principle is ethical or not. Examples:

The Islamic principle of beating rebellious wives as a last resort…FAIL.

The Islamic principle of giving to the poor…PASS.

The Islamic principle of giving 2x the amt of inheritance to males than to females…FAIL.

I heartily agree with you here.

I didn’t really think you were ignoring me - just poking fun. 😃

If someone is the type of humanist that believes that humanity is the highest moral authority, then there is no basis for saying that the Golden Rule should apply other than by “majority rules.” Morality would be subject to flawed human logic and emotion and could change based on the whims of society.

There are so many people in this world who hate religion. They despise believers in God, and think we are “weak minded”. Forget about the “Islamic threat”, its atheism that will conquer the Western countries. Who agrees?
A great many of you are weak minded by any standard society has to measure such a concept. All I have to do is kick back and laugh at the Christians, Muslims, Jews and Mormons who threaten and defame each other here on this forum. All of you worship the same deity (who doesn’t seem to exist, outside your imagination) and profess very similar creeds, yet the bickering is hilarious and neverending.

I’m confident that many of you chuckleheads would be murdering one another if it weren’t for us skeptical, secular types to keep you all in line with threats of real world punishment.

Therein lies the great hypocrisy. All the people who claim to be guided by the murderous and sadistic philosophies of the stone-age, codified in your holy books, can’t seem to get up the gumption to risk prison time with another holy inquisition. It seems the true-believers aren’t really believers at all, except perhaps in theory, and this suggests that belief in God is not based on true faith but some psychological necessity.

Do you feel better now?

I completely disagree. Islam is far more likely to take over the world than atheism. Atheism is a fragile thing that would disappear in a heartbeat if social and economic conditions changed. It’s a hothouse flower. Islam has shown incredible vitality and tenacity.

I don’t think our attitude toward rival ideologies as Christians should be dictated by pragmatic considerations, though. In other words, the important question is not “how likely is this religion or ideology to take over traditionally Christian parts of the world” but “how much goodness, truth, and beauty does this religion or ideology possess?”

I completely agree, I would not want to live next door to Richard Dawkins. My house would look so small compared to his.

Atheism is a non-belief with no motives behind it. People who are atheists may, on their own, see the need to abolish religion. Those people may very well be a greater threat than Islam - but the threat is to religion not to humankind.

Atheism is the result of science and reason and science and reason are capable of the greatest things our world knows - abortion tools, birth control pills, condoms, sex swings, guns and peanut butter. Sadly it has also enabled bad things to happen like the building of churches.

I suspect few will see that as anywhere near as funny I do.
(Commandment #11 referred to peanut butter but he had no room for it on the second tablet and moses didn’t use his bowflex so he couldn’t carry the third tablet with him.)
