Secularism between Islam & Christianity.

“A U.S. Muslim group has issued a dire Internet “warning” to creators of “South Park” over a depiction of the Prophet Muhammad in a bear outfit.” Link.

Yet the same Hollywood group will develop a comedy cartoon about Jesus, Link.

Why secularism can not miss with Islam but have no problem attacking Christianity!!!

Doesn’t that give Islam a strong reputation between people (specially children) when they hear such stories…

hi sam. southpark makes fun of everybody.men,women,children, Jews, Christians,Muslims, scientologist, Mormons, terrorist, etc. i would have to say in all honesty, they realize that a Jew, Christian,Mormon, or scientologist is not going to show up at their homes or studios, with a machine gun, or bomb. isnt salman rushdie still in hiding? yep. i gues certain groups have no sense of humor. that would include the scientologist on their staff, who was fine with poking fun of everyone else. but when his own group was satyred, he quit the show, in protest. Peace 🙂
 
If anything it stirs the fight rather then multicultural prejudice among the secular. Only fear is overwelming fight. Scientolgist, the late Issac Hayes, did withdraw from acting on South Park when they went after Scientology.

No. The fatwa issued by the late Ayatollah Khomeini was not supported nor disavowed under reformist president Khatami (since Britain ceased to have diplomatic relations with Iran over this this incident, the Iranians were required to state that they would not support it in order to normalize relations with Britain in 1998, but they also said they would not hinder it). I believe Ali Khamenei (Iran’s “Supreme Leader”/religious authority) reaffirmed the fatwa as recently as 2005. Iranian puppet “resistance movement” Hizbollah has also made some noise about how it should be carried out, too.

Despite this, I do not believe that Salman Rushdie is in hiding anymore. He even appeared on national TV on the program “Bill Moyers’ Journal” after the Muhammad Cartoons controversy to give his opinion on that, given his past experience with Islamist nutcases. During that interview, he and the host talk about his coming out of hiding.

But aren’t those quotes concern Christians and not Jesus Himself, shouldn’t we remember what Jesus told simon…

(Luke 7:44-47):
"Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.”

Shouldn’t that be applied to the comedy cartoon show, aren’t we afraid that Jesus might say the same thing on the judgement day (that the comedy cartoon humiliated Him yet no Christian took any action to stop it).

Shouldn’t we show our love to Him by at least condemning that show…

basically i used those quotes on how we should turn the other cheek and we will be persicuted.
And we do not take these things lying down…
There is another show on tv called californcation and the first episode showed a man seducing a nun, wellll, in Australia, a group of Catholics went down to the tv station and sat out the front with candles lit and prayed, that sat there for hours and prayed, it made headlines etc and funny thing, the ratings started to die for that show not long after.
With south park, family guy, all those sort of shows, there is always going to be people making fun of religion, i personally dont like it, but it happens. all we can do is pray.
 
I do not approve of South Park abusing the Holy Name of Jesus…they are blaspheming Him. I told my family not to watch it and to always say a prayer honoring the Holy Name of Jesus that is blasphemed.

They don’t do it to Muhammed or Buddha but to Christ alone…and for this I also see this as work of the Evil One.

hi Kathleen. i dont see them being hostile to Christianity. they always have a pretty good lesson woven into their show. also yes, they do slam just about everyone. mohammed and buddah included. what is suprising, is their cartoon on the Mormons, while funny, was a pretty accurate portrayal of Joseph Smith. sometimes i think we do need to laugh at ourselves. they also never take sides. Peace 🙂
 
But taking the Lord’s name in vain is a grave sin and violates the 2nd commandment…

Even the devils in hell bend to the name of Jesus. Do not approach the Lord uncommonly.

If you KNEW what muhammad looked liked you probably wouldn’t even want to be a muslim.

According to the most authoritative hadiths, muhammad was a whitish man (but not white), squats to pee and had much lice on his hair. Not to mention he jumps in fright at the eclipse.

Seriously, given a choice would YOU accept such a man as your greatest prophet ???

What a very poor and needlessly insulting way of arguing. We likewise do not know what our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ looked like (though many artistic depictions of both figures exist within the traditions of both faiths), but this does not matter at all. The message is what matters, not the look of the person delivering it.

If the look of the person is not important, would you believe the man if he has horns on his head and holds a trident as his scepter???

anyway hey, let’s not argue over signs that should rightly ring bells of suspicion over regularly termed non-lookers.

I wouldn’t mind if the person speaks wisely but does not look wise. But I would certainly mind if the person looks dubiously queer and tells me he holds or knows the way to salvation but is himself jittery over something as simple as an eclipse.

To me, that would be un-discerning. And you are trying to stretch it there.
 
Alright, we’ll just have to agree to disagree here, as this is not an argument I’m all that interested in having. I simply find it rude to pick on the man for his physical appearance, as you seemed to have done there. By all means, if that is your means of “discernment”, feel free, but I wouldn’t go around recommending it to anyone else. We are all (yes, this includes Muhammad) made in the image of God.

If someone were to give birth to a paraplegic and deformed child, do YOU then go up to him and say…“hey, he’s made in your image”. ?

I mean let’s not say things without first processing it in our heads. Jesus DID say “Go away! I know you not you evil-doer”.

To say that all men regardless of their kind are made in the image of God is not only undiscerning, it is also blasphemous. So your statement there is absolutely and certainly out of place.

If you’d take my advice, I’ll tell you to go ask God for forgiveness right this moment.

i completely agree my friend. vigourous debate is fine. but to advocate this type of hatred, is disgusting. i dont even hate the enemy im trained to fight. i respect them. and yes, if given an opportunity, id give them a cold drink of water in Jesus Name. yep i know who your thinking it is.😉 Peace 🙂

Agreeing with the saying that even evil men are made in the image of God is an insult to God.

You show only that you respect man more than you should respect God. Be not surprised then when you receive no respect when the time comes for your soul’s judgement.
