I have two roommates in their mid twenties, one is a fallen away Catholic, another a misinformed secularist indiferrentialist.

I was tying to explain the Unity I feel (contentedness, peace, joy) that I feel after receiving Christ in the Eucharist in a state of Grace. I told him I have not found that sense anywhere else since my reversion.

He comes back with saying that anyone can have that supposed feeling of unity with a ‘deity’ , and my feelings of unity with Jesus my Savior is only subjective. I did not say anything else with fearing that I too would come across as indiferrentialist. He views Jesus as just another historical figure, regardless of the many miracles that happend.
Both my roommates have colder hearts, not much joy from either. It makes me so,ad, I wish they could know the Lord as I do. 😦

Include both of your room mates in your daily prayers, and start searching for another place to live ASAP. Living in such an environment is unhealthy both psychologically as well as spiritually.
Discussing/arguing Religion with your room mates will get you nothing but aggravation and headaches. You will not and cannot convince them of anything. I do not know whether you are in college or in boarding school, but in either case, you can consult a counsellor with some privacy and discression. If you are at a University or College, I suggest that you have a talk with the Chaplain of the Newman Society on campus. He may be able to help.

They can know him like you do if you pray for them :D!

Of course a secularist would think that. You can’t prove that your experience is more than just a subjective feeling or whatever in the way that would be meaningful to him. But he also can’t prove that he is right. All secularists have to offer is empty theorising. Point that out next time you discuss anything God related.

Hello, please consider this in regards as to how one “feels” after receiving the real presence. Some people are more open than others to God and spirituality. Even some of those that profess to be devout catholics or whatever faith they have are simply going through the motions and probably don’t share your feelings of unity with Christ in the eucharist. They may receive the eucharist and 10 minutes later they’re lying to their brother or whatever the case may be. If they are acting in such a manner I doubt they have the same feelings toward the eucharist as you do. That does not mean that they didn’t receive him. It simply means(I think) that they are not as open to the grace of God as others are.
I would agree to get out of that roommate situation as it is probably quite toxic for you and put these to individuals in your daily prayers. remember St.Monica. If what I said above doesn’t make sense don’t worry about it because my understanding of “subjective” has always been fuzzy. Blessings-Stay safe.

Your experience of Jesus in the Eucharist is subjective, because it is yours. Union with Jesus takes affect whether you “feel” it or not. I don’t know how many times I have thought myself horrible because I didn’t “feel” something. I have a fallen nature, what can I say?

It sounds to me as though they haven’t had a conscious encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist. I received Him for years without having a clue or any awareness of His presence. One day Jesus revealed himself to me and I fell to my knees and sobbed. It was a special grace and undeserved gift. Pray that Jesus reveal Himself to your friends and trust if He hasn’t then He probably has a good reason.

Peace and love to you.
