Sedevacantists and the "New Mass"

I have read an article that has claimed the Novus Ordo is invalid because of the fact that the Words of consecration are different. Here is a quote from the article which states

" Pope Pius V, De Defectibus, Part V:"The words of Consecration, which are the form of the Sacrament, are these:'THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL TESTAMENT, THE MYSTERY OF FAITH, WHICH SHALL BE SHED FOR YOU ANDFOR MANYUNTO THE REMISSION OF SINS’.Now if one were toomit, or tochangeanythingin the form of the consecration of the Body and Blood, and in that very change of the words the wording would fail to mean the same,he wouldnot*consecrate the Sacrament.If in fact he were to add something that did not change the meaning, it is true he would consecrate, but he would sin most gravely."

Is this true?? or is this article taking this quote out of context? Please help me understand this and may God bless you all!

Sedevacantists are not in communion with the Catholic Church. You probably should avoid their websites, esp. if you are in RCIA and just learning the faith. You may become confused and even may be put in spiritual danger by their claims. There is enough to learn and experience in the Catholic Church without confusing yourself with schismatic claims, IMO.

Jesus gave the Apostles and their successors the power to bind and loose, so if the words the priest uses are approved by the Church, the bread and wine are Consecrated. The words used by the priest at the OF are perfectly legitimate, as they are from the approved translation of the Liturgy.

Consider this. Jesus did not use those words. Does that make the First Eucharist invalid? What this group is doing is confusing a discipline (the specific words of consecration) from the past, subject to change, with doctrine.

Not closed yet…must post I also read a few of those articles. They bothered me a lot. I had a small crisis for a few days, and I am sorry I ever gave in to the unhealthy curiosity of reading what these people had to say. But now I know their arguments are based on erroneous premises.

Also, God would never allow millions to receive and give adoration to a simple piece of bread believing it is truly Christ, nor would God allow the holy and pure sacrifice to suddenly cease to be offered from east to west.

These people go as far as to say more or less the same about all the sacraments, with equally invalid premises, so in their sad little world there is no Eucharist, no bishops and priests, no valid confessions, et cetera… It’s just lots of smoke and noise.

Remember what St. Paul had to say in Romans 16:17

I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.
