JPII had a special wheeled chair to transport him and I rather liked the innovation.
The Holy Father is a target, unfortunately. I am rather attached and respectful of this Pontiff. As always, with the last five popes in my life, I cannot imagine anyone who can take over the helm of the Church, but thanks be to God for the Popes we have had.
