I want to share a poem from my new book that is called " From The Inside Out " that is published through Publishamerica. It reflects my feelings and my stance on abortion which I hope I can share with you.

See It’s Carried On

Freedoms have no boundaries like our hearts and like our minds
Freedoms they are endless and they have no ties and binds
But I question motives when they’re used to maim and kill
Can you take a life by drinking water and a pill
If your life’s in danger then that is a different case
I attack abortion from a solely moral base
What about the freedoms of a precious unborn child
Are they just old papers to be packed away and filed
They are truly innocent no matter your mistakes
Who are you to say the snow should fall no more in flakes
What about their choices cause I know you value yours
Who are you to take away and close off all their doors
Let a generation see the coming of it’s dawn
If you truly value freedom then you see it’s carried on

I like it. I’d like to hear more about your idea of freedoms having no boundaries and the dichotomoty of our refusing those freedoms to another.

Recently I’ve realized that true freedom, which exists in the mental state of the free person, cannot be taken away with prison walls. If somebody’s body is locked up then their mind can still roam free – unless of course you are being given psychiatric drugs to prevent even that.

Personally I think that freedoms taken away from another do not just “go away” but stay in the world as spiritual energy waiting to unleash its payload elsewhere. It’s almost as if freedoms denied starts up some kind of account that has to go somewhere!

Thanks and I also believe that energy stays in the world. I guess the whole poem for me would be about all of us as people having freedoms that extend to unborn children but us as people not having the right at least in my humble opinion to change what has been set in motion or to take the life of a child because of a mistake they may have made that may turn out to be a great reward later on in life.

I kind of look at it as people having many freedoms but as the law says not the freedom to risk another like going into a crowded theatre and yelling fire. I see abortion kind of in this light because to me that unborn soul is just as alive as we are and should be safe.

I also believe that even behind walls or gates that the mind is free and can go wherever it wants and be free like the many veterans who suffered in prison camps while never letting the enemy take away their freedom of belief or thought.

Thanks,
Jeff

I have a question about the line “If your life’s in danger then that’s a different case.” Just want to clarify that the principle of double effect comes in here and that a doctor may perform a procedure that will kill the unborn child to save the life of the mother (i.e. chemotherapy), but the child can never be killed directly. Not sure if i’m reading too much into it or what, but wanted to clarify just in case.

Thanks for your thoughts on this and I feel that if the mothers life is in danger then I could accept saving her in my personal feeling and view of it but just as a method of correcting what one might see as a mistake by getting pregnant then no I really wouldn’t want the girl to have an abortion. I’d wish she might have the baby and keep it or even if she had to then give the baby up to another family for adoption.

I guess the only way I feel personally that abortion is alright is if it risks the mothers life to proceed with having the child. Rape is a horrible thing but even then I would rather see the child be given up for adoption. Just my feelings on it and thank you for posting your view.
