me too. it was very traumatic to watch. I felt absolutely hopeless and panicked.

This is what Pope Francis talks about when he says to help the weak, especially children and elderly.

Sarabande, when you feel like you have no power in the world to stop abuse, remember that b/c you love your children, you are creating a cycle of love and kindness. You are creating world peace by creating love in your home.

Our power as mothers is to be loving to our babies and in return, they will become loving people. Mother Theresa once told a woman that if she wanted to spread world peace, to go home and love her family.
You are so right, Serap. It’s a natural thing, I think, for any person to want to go out and save the world when he/she see such awful things like in the video. It’s that feeling of hopelessness and helplessness and wanting so desperately to stop it. You feel like your hands are tied and cannot free yourself in order to help these people. But it is so important to do what you can within your ability to help goodness and love overcome the sins and evils that we see. The little things really do count and become very large in the long run.

Not to toot my own horn, but I’m definitely doing my part. I was terribly abused by my parents and I can say that with a lot of work, determination, and perserverence, I am a lovely mother to my 2 babies.

There were days where I found myself making a conscious effort not to be abusive b/c of my own abusive programming from childhood. Now, I find that I have changed the programming, so much that now, I don’t find myself fighting abusive urges anymore. I do find myself yelling at times and once I calm down, I apologize to my children.

I’m proud of my accomplishments as a mother. This is how I am helping the world I guess; by not perpetuating my own cycle of abuse. Anyone who was abused, knows that this is a very difficult thing to do.
