Seeking Eucharist Advice

My mother and father divorced when I was 8. (I am 27 now.) My father remarried when I was 13. My father and mother did not seek an annulment of their marriage. Consequently, my father did not get married in the Church. He and my stepmother (also a divorced Catholic without an annulment) were “married” during an at-home ceremony by a protestant minister. Throughout this whole process and now they have continued to go to Mass and receive the Blessed Sacrament. I know this is absolutely wrong. However, I do not know how I ought to go about explaining the sinfulness of this behavior to them. I do not know how I ought to guide them in this matter. Please help me. I am worried about the eternal consequences of their decisions. I did not get to spend my life on earth with my mother and father together. I would, however, like to spend eternity together with them, adoring Our Lord. Besides your advice will you also pray for me and my family? Thank you all in advance.

I know this is hard for you especially since you are talking about your parents. The first thing you should do is pray for their conversion. I have found that many Catholics do not really know what the church teaches and why. Since this is the Year of The Eucharist (Oct.2004 thru Oct. 2005) you could look up and find many books or pamphlets on the Eucharist, (adoration, etc.). Then you can casually bring up things you read and learned about what the church teaches. One other thing which would probably help you the most is if you spent time in an Adoration Chapel with Jesus and tell him about your concerns. He will definately give you the inspirations you need.
