Is it right of me to seek spiritual direction just for myself and not for my wife also seeing as we are one Body? and if I invite her to do so, and she refuses, is it still ok for me to seek spiritual advice for myself anyway?

Absolutely.

(usually it is one on one…)

(make sure you see someone who thinks with the Church of course)

Of course, when looking for spiritual direction we must always choose a prudent and prayerful priest, I’m just hoping that we get one as they are not easy to come by ( spiritual directors that is! )

Stephen,

Actually, I think it's better for you to go to spiritual direction alone. Why? Because good spiritual direction should begin with Confession. Your spiritual director should be the guy you to go normally for Confession. Just like your family doctor. He needs to be as familiar with your soul as he can be. And Confession provides a great insight to him as to where you are in your spiritual life.
God bless! 🙂

You may be one body, but you are two souls. Each of you is entirely free to pursue spiritual direction or not, regardless of the other’s decision.

Thank you Betsy, its just that I understand that I have a responsability to look after my Wifes Spiritual self as well as my own, and I suppose that if I were to go alone, then I could always transmit the info I receive to her also.

Thanks everyone for you replies,

God bless and take care

I would try a monastery or religious order.

When my wife and I were first married we went together. Then after we grew more comfortable and saw the need to pursue our unique design in the unique ways God was leading us, we began to get direction separately. Bottom line - in doesn’t matter. The goal is to pursue God with all your heart. Assuming your spouse desires God, they will be drawn to Him and you - the more you become like Him.

Here’s a good post on how to find a director…
