I usually LOVE watching Seinfeld re-runs.
There are, of course, some episodes that are way off the radar, morally speaking.

But I always crack up at The Soup Nazi.

And George Costanza’s parents are about the most base and
uncouth people I have ever seen on t.v., SO VERY uncouth that they are hilarious. I love the episode where the woman had a doll that looked exactly like George’s loudmouthed mother, and George could hear his mother’s voice coming out of the doll.

they just showed that episode after 24 was over. I agree, the soup nazi one is one of the best. NO SOUP FOR YOU!

I like the episode where Jerry and George take the Limo Ride home from the airport and George gets mistaken as being the “leader of the Aryan Union”…

They not moral, but they’re not monsters either.

My family and I love Seinfeld.

We now have every day “seinfeldisms” in our lives.

We have soup for tea and one of us has to be the “Soup Nazi”.

We see a weird looking shirt in the shops, and exclaim “It’s the puffy shirt”.

We park in a multi-level car park and hope we don’t get lost in it like them.

We go to a party and one of us has to hold a pretzel and remark how thirsty they are.

We argue, then pass each other after the argument has ended and say to each other “Hello so-and-so” in the “Hello Newman” voice.

We do our food shopping and go down the breakfast cereal aisle, saying how it looks like Jerry’s kitchen.

We want to get an answering machine (yeah I know, we don’t have one) so we can have a message singing “Believe it or not so-and-so isn’t at home”.

We tell each other to turn our jackets inside out when it is raining, thankfully none of us have pink and white striped lining.

And if we want to annoy another family member, we start humming “Master of the House, Keeper of the Inn…” and it sticks with them all day.

Yep, we loved Seinfeld, and yes it isn’t moral, but it is a good laugh.

I can’t believe no one has mentioned the episode where it shows Elaine “dancing” at her office party!!! That has to be one of the funniest things I’ve EVER seen, lol. My hubby has not seen that episode, so it’s even funnier when I do the Elaine dance and he just thinks I’m nuts:D .

I love the show. Consider it a “classic” even when it was still in prime time but as far as it having “good life-lessons” … hardly.

Moral issues aside, I think this is the greatest tv show of all time.

Most people don’t get that the show really revolves around George.

Vandelay industries!! Vandelay industries!!!

My fav scenes from Seinfeld episodes(I don’t recall all the names of the episodes though):
  1. In series 2, Kramer, having heard enough from George and Jerry, decides to go in Dragnet style to retrieve Jerry’s stolen Statue from the apartment of the cleaner. This was the start of something great… the first episode where Kramer really stole the show from the other characters.
  2. “Believe it or not, George isn’t at home”
Greatest Answering machine greeting ever!
  1. Frogger!
George tries to keep his old Frogger arcade machine record alive, The only problem is, how will he get the Arcade Machine he recently bought across the busy street? I loved the Birds eye view shot!
  1. “I’m out there Jerry and I’m loving every minute of it!”
Kramer tells Jerry something he doesn’t want to know about the status of Kramer’s underpants.
  1. “Back and to the left” -
Newman and Kramer recount the JFK-esq Post-match confrontation with Keith Hernandez. Jerry then reconstructs the entire spitting incident and come to the conclusion:
“I’m saying there had to be a second spitter… over by the Gravely road!” - Jerry

In the next episode Hernandez tells his own version of the events, and the mystery is solved… Both scenes are my fav scenes ever in a Seinfeld episode.

Actually it really doesn’t revolve around him. It is a classic Straight man setup.

Jerry is the character the Audience really goes with, it’s his general perspective the audience follows, without realizing it(even though the show is called “Seinfeld”). He’s the textbook straight guy, the one most of us relate to. We see the other characters through his eyes, his best friend “Biff” George who he hangs out with and likes to listen to, the crazy neighbor who always busts in unexpectedly with a crazy idea, and a neurotic female version of himself. We are in on the gig, He’s the only sane guy in the neighbourhood and he finds even the smallest things funny… He laughs at the escapades of his friends and the weird people who live in his building and on his block.

We see life from his perspective…

We don’t even realise this at all… but that is exactly why the show is so good at doing a classic tried and true formula for character comedy. Without Jerry where would these 3 friends, and indeed the audience be? The show even has an episode where Jerry sends Elaine and George to see a movie by themselves, George and Elaine realise on this outing one thing… Without Jerry there to listen and make wisecrack comments, they cannot even talk to each other unless it’s something about Jerry.

The show follows the escapades of George, Elaine and Kramer from Jerry’s perspective as the Straight man.

I think there’s a lot of room on Catholicism for humor, even adult humor.
Seinfeld is a comedy about a bunch of losers and so it doesn’t seem bad yet I have always heard, it’s just adult comedy. Why does comedy in general get away with some of the raunchiest stuff and we defend it as OK. If I uncomfortable watching it with my 16 or 22 year old, what makes it OK for me to watch.

I understand the need for comedy and to me Seinfeld could have been one of the best shows on TV but most of the comedy shows go to sexuality as the constant joke. It just spoils it.

I guess the question to ask is,
IF Christ were sitting on the sofa with us,
would he approve of what we are watching???

As most of us can identify with the characters. I would have made one of the characters if only in the final shows, a great winner at something preferably a good relationship.

When my daughter calls I always answer “helllooooo” in the belly button voice (remember when Jerry gave up the girl rather than give up the voice?)

i Like the Anti-Dentite episode

and the one were Kramer wants to convert. I think to catholicism and he has to wash himself with the smell of a skunk.

The episode were jerry is trying to buy a car and George finds himself arguing over a Twix bar is also a classic.

My favorite episode was the one where they lost their car in a multilevel parking garage. Seinfeld finally had to urinate, so he went behind a car and he ended up getting arrested.
Didn’t he have the horrible uromysitysis that episode? LOL too funny.

The one about Kramer’s GF who was a “low talker” really got me rolling. Doesn’t everyone know one of those people??? SPEAK UP!!!

I also appreciated Newman’s insight into zip codes. He tells the GF he got using his birthday wish as they drive off in a convertible…“zip codes are meaningless”. Priceless!

Like everything, Seinfeld needs to b seen for what it is. It’s a fun and funny distraction from the everyday and nothing I would ever base my sense of morality on.

The funniest Seinfeld episode for me is the one where George and his parents meet Susan and her parents for dinner and George’s father wants to understand the mating rituals of chickens. Its adult comedy but still gets me everytime. Its also where Jerry mugs the old lady for the marble rye and Kramer feeds beefaroni to the Horse and later the horse breaks wind while he is riding Susan’s parents through Central Park.

My friends and I will point out men who need the “bro” HAHAHA

This is one of my all time favorite. The “bro” or the man bra.

My favorite character is George. He is so pathetic that he is funny. I loved his crush on Ellen.

We all have a little George in us.
