If we naturally accept that which is self-evident,
Why would we reject that which is self-evident?
Why would we reject that which is self-evident?
We reject that which is self-evident because the results, truth, often is a very difficult matter to accept, for many reasons. If we naturally accept that which is self-evident,
Why would we reject that which is self-evident?
What is a humanist? It is self evident to me that a humanist can do just as much good as a christian, and I find nothing that a christian can do that a humanist can also do.
I think he is referring to Secular Humanists. Secular Humanists tend to be either Atheist or Agnostic I think. What is a humanist?
Can they love God?
Self-evidence is just a way of saying that there is no evidence for some proposition but one accepts it because it feels right. If we naturally accept that which is self-evident,
Why would we reject that which is self-evident?
The word humanist first arose in the Renaissance and it had nothing to do with atheism, agnosticism, or any philosophical position. The Humanists were simply gifted linguists who were involved in translatng ancient documents. Examples include, Erasmus, Lorenzo Valla. Most of them were religious, some of them wanted to radically reform the Church.I think he is referring to Secular Humanists. Secular Humanists tend to be either Atheist or Agnostic I think.
So,Because we lack objectivity. Also, we are all afflicted with the affects of original sin, namely, darkness of intellect and weakness of will. We see, many times, what we want to see, rather than what’s really there. And, especially in this culture, we are more driven by emotions that can be attached to some desire, etc., than by the intellect.![]()

Holly is right, my apologies. I was reffering to Secular Humanists.I think he is referring to Secular Humanists. Secular Humanists tend to be either Atheist or Agnostic I think.
What is the motivation,You said:
And,
A humanist can do,
Just as much evil,
As a christian
Yes. Without anyone offering them a reward for doing so.
The motivation is the same for both. Pursuit of happiness. In doing evil they accept a counterfeit instead of the real thing. What is the motivation,
For a Secular Humanist,
To do evil?
Counterfeit Happiness is real,The motivation is the same for both. Pursuit of happiness. In doing evil they accept a counterfeit instead of the real thing.
Since it is self-evident whether,If we naturally accept that which is self-evident,
Why would we reject that which is self-evident?
What if its not self-evident?Counterfeit Happiness is real,
Counterfeit Happiness is not real Happiness
Since it is self-evident whether,
That which is True,
And that which is false,
Are one,
Then, we do evil when we believe,
True is false,
And false is True?
We reject that which is self-evident,
Due to our weakness of intellect and will?
But,We reject that which is self-evident,
Due to our weakness of intellect and will?
Since it is self-evident that it is self-evident,What if its not self-evident?
So ordinarily,If I were gay it would be self-evident to me that I was gay,
Contrary to what my environment may lead me to believe.
But if I do not accept this self-evidence,
It would be a out of weakness of will.
And if I sought only comfort in life,
I would continue to not fully accept,
This which is self-evident,
And I would lack peace.
For example,So ordinarily,
The worship or obedience,
To that which is material,
Keeps us from accepting,
Or even growing close to,
That which is self-evident.
What does satisfy spiritual needs? For example,
We obey our hunger by eating,
To satisfy physical needs,
But not spiritual needs.
Gluttony is disordered,
And keeps us from accepting,
That which is self-evident.
Fasting, on the other hand,
Can help us fully accept
That which is self-evident.
(Though, fasting, in itself, does not satisfy spiritual needs.)
Happiness.What does satisfy spiritual needs?
