Does anyone have a recommendation for a good self help book (preferably workbook) to heal from an emotionally and mentally unfavourable childhood that has a Catholic or at the very least Christian perspective.

I believe my parents did the best they knew how, but I also believe some things from my past have a negative effect on me

Thanks

Angie

Each of us is built differently, so a book that appeals to me might not appeal to you.

However, one of my favorites is “Weeds Among the Wheat” by Father Thomas Green.

There is also: “My Daily Bread” by Father Anthony Paone … available from the Confraternity of the Precious Blood.

In my opinion, these two books provide a worthwhile set of meditations that can help provide useful formation … to assist in rebuilding oneself.

I would look into the books by Conrad Baars. He was a Catholic psychiatrist and his daughter, Suzanne, has continued his work and also appeared on EWTN. You can get his books on Amazon, but there is also a website: conradbaars.com
