Selling My House

Hello all,

As many of you are aware the real estate market is horrible right now. My wife and I had to move to another region because there were no jobs where we lived prior. Unlike so many people who are so much less fortunate than we are, we did not just walk away from our house and foreclose however. We have had the house on the market now for two years, without any interest. As you can imagine paying for a house that we are not using is a huge expense and has stopped us from getting many things we need. We are in a real financial crunch. Many people are in the same boat as we are or even worse they have totally lost their home. Please pray for my wife and I and even more importantly those who have been left homeless as a result of this really bad real estate economy.

Thanks for all the prayers. I have felt so helpless and discouraged about this situation. As you can imagine 2 years on the market can do this to you. I have been praying for patience and guidance. It amazes me that when we feel helpless we forget one of the most powerful gifts we have - prayer. I sincerely believe that with your prayers and mine, God will give me some resolution to this issue. Thanks again for your prayers and Please continue to pray.

Just an update. I want to thank you all for your prayers. I had one showing on last Saturday, but no further interest as of yet. Thank you so much for your prayers. I know that they have been heard… to even have a showing is improvement. Please continue to pray for this intention for me.
 
Pray to St. Joseph for help selling your home! Remember, he had to move his family, including a newborn, in a real hurry into another country! I will pray that your house sells soon.

I’m praying for you Steve…4pm. What area/time zone are you in?

I know how discouraging this is for you. My wife and I are in the same situation. Been on the market for 2 years…the bills mount…it just seems like our lives are on hold until we can get the house sold. As the 2 years passes the credit card bills mount and are maxed out right now.

Heavenly Father, please here our prayers for these houses to sell quickly, for us, and all those in similar situations. Please send us all qualified buyers very soon so that we may continue our lives and not be focused on this problem daily. In the name of your son Jesus we pray.

I was thinking about your situation. Because you are living far away from your house for sale, maybe it is looking run-down? Do you have a gardner to come out and mow/tidy things up? How about a housekeeper to keep things fresh every so often? Is your house “staged” or set up to look nice and show off all the good attributes while minimizing the negative things?

Thanks for the advice Sam. My wife have tried everything in our power. We have a lawn crew who also takes care of watering plants and pulling weeds. We have someone go in a dust and vaccuum and make sure the house smells good with air fresheners. We have dropped the bottom out of the price… listing it for significantly less than what we owe just to sell it. We have even tried to rent it (which was a nightmare). I thank you for your advice. It is mostly the economy here in Michigan and the real estate market … it is worse than that of Mississippi and Louisiana after Katrina. So please continue to pray that God will do what my wife and I cannot – get us a buyer.

Hello All,

Thanks for your prayers. I have had one showing last week and since no interest. For a long time I have really been struggling with selling my house and really have lapsed into a state of depression over it. I am a firm believer that God does everything for a reason and sometimes that reason does not make sense to us. I have thought that a lot in my life, but looking back God’s way was always the right way. I have many examples of this. Since joining this board, I have become stronger in my faith again and see a possible reason God has for not allowing my house to sell. It was a way to get me here. I have found two people on here besides me who are in the same situation as I am. I think that God has brought us all together on here. I ask that all members of this board pray to God that all people who are struggling the way we are - financially and with the burden of not being able to sell a house and especially those losing everything including their house as a result. Many people do not understand why our houses are not selling. Some kindly offer advice and ask well are you doing this that and the other. Our houses are being well maintained. The market is awful and many of us are attempting to give our houses away for nothing just to sell them. Please pray to God for us, that we may have the strength to carry this cross.
And thank you for those who have prayed for this intention.
