my girlfriend is considering selling a egg to a family that is infertile but there is a payment for the egg involved? is this against catholic teaching?
It is immoral to sell your eggs to someone, and it is also immoral to give them to someone without payment. Any type of procedure that attempts to create a child outside of natural intercourse between husband and wife is immoral.my girlfriend is considering selling a egg to a family that is infertile but there is a payment for the egg involved? is this against catholic teaching?
We are not talking chicken eggs here.
Yes, it is against Catholic teaching, on many levels. If you need resources please let me know. I don’t want to go digging for all the documentation if you don’t need it.
Some of the areas it violates are: selling body parts is prohibited, if the egg is to be used for IVF or another type of insemination purpose, it violates all sorts of teachings there.
Are you needing help in talking her out of it? Is she Catholic? Does she submit to any authority outside of herself?
Welcome to CAF.I hope your time here is fruitful.
Thanks alot for the advice, and actually its not my girlfriend its a couple that i know and i am friends with them and she asked me what catholic teaching was on it. She is catholic though, but her boyfriend is not. I will make sure to tell them what all you guys said though thanks!
