There is no canonical requirement for any form of postulancy.

There are many orders that have a 2 year novitiate but the canonical novitiate is a year and a day. Hence many of groups with a 2 year novitiate have studies outside of the novitiate house which is allowed as only the year and a day requirement does not allow for such,

I do know of some groups with a 2 year novitiate and they also cloth their novices on the first day of the novitiate.

Again, I do not know what the Jesuits do.
I see. I appreciate your insight.

Why are seminarians today seemingly so obsessed with what they can or cannot wear. Their focus should be on study and formation. A friend of mine who is a prof at a seminary says all they seem to want to talk about is clothing. It is not what is on the body that makes one a good priest but what is inside. One can wear all the finery they want and appear pious and holy, but if they are not that way inside, or pastoral, the people in the parish are going to find that out rather quickly.

I agree, seems an odd focus.

So lets ask.
A somewhat obscure question . . . .

Are seminarians and others studying for the priesthood permitted to wear the ferraiolo?
Why would/do you want to?
