Seminary and divorce?

I was divorced earlier this year from a non-religious spouse. We were married in a fairly non-religious ceremony and at the time I was fairly non-religious myself. We divorced due to some complications surrounding my tours of duty while in the military among some very severe personal issues.

Now, I am very sure that my place is in priesthood. I have no children to complicate matters, luckily. But, I am concerned about the existence of my previous marriage when I try for entry into the program. Any helpful advice or encouraging words?

On a side note: which undergrad degree’s are most complimentary to a Masters of Divinity?

You will need to go though the anullment process.

The current requirement for entry into a Catholic major seminary is 30 credits of philosophy and 12 credits of theology. The 30 credits of philosophy are best done with a Bachelors degree in Philosophy. Make sure it is a good Catholic university as many public institutions are pushing moral relativism and most Catholic institutions will not accept those philosophy credits.
 
God bless you on your journey to being a priest…Talk to the priest at your parish and call a seminary around you…they can point you in the right direction…🙂
 
Just a heads up here. To be accepted to a seminary, you will need to receive a declaration of nullity from your diocesan/military ordinate tribunal for your marriage. You also will need to inform your vocations director whether you cooperated in an abortion, used abortifacient type contraceptives, or if you participated in any medical procedures which involved the destruction of your embryos (such as commonly occurs with IVF).
