Dear brethren,

Today I learned that my Bishop, due to the revelation of a grave issue during the applications process, has decided to drop my application to the seminary for my Diocese. I had been discerning the priesthood for years now, and today I feel like I have completely lost everything. The vicar of vocations made pretty clear to me that the priesthood is not my vocation.

I am utterly crushed and I have never felt such sadness and pain. Please, please pray for me.

I am so sorry to hear this Antonius. Know that God uses everything, good or bad, for the greater glory of his kingdom. I will be praying for you!

Praying for you.
Time to find a new diocess.
I will pray that the pain goes away.

I am so sorry to hear this…May God grant you guidance and peace.

I have to wonder though, if the issue might not be viewed differently in a different diocese or if perhaps God wants you as a religious rather than a secular/diocesan priest.

Keep praying and listening.

Peace
James

I will pray that God helps you discern the vocation He intends for you. Please remember that He will never abandon you!

:gopray:

Thanks for all the prayers thus far. My heart is broken beyond anything I’ve ever felt. Please continue your prayers, because I cannot find any words to speak to God with.

An Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be and a Fatima Prayer for Antonius. Please grant heal his sadness and pain at this very disappointing episode in his life and guide him to find another way to serve you soon. In Christ’s name. Amen.

The only prayer I can think of, when words run out, is:

“Dear God, help me to love you evermore”. Put an emphasis on the word ‘dear’, and you will feel the pull toward the Name of our Father. ‘Dear God’ has such a powerful ring to it. Our Father, Master, King, and Teacher of all truth shall look after you, Antonius. When something happens, it is the will of God. Remember this all your days, brother. You may think rejection, murder, rape, theft, or death are not His will… but if it happens, it’s of God. Even the greatest evil is used by God for a greater good.

In your own case, the great evil of rejection from Seminary will lead to a wondrous good. Despite your dark and black mood now, maintaining faith in the Most High Almighty and Strong Immortal will see you into the light. Psalm 96 says “Light is risen for the just, and joy for the right of heart”. Be just in your ways, and be right of heart in loving God and loving your neighbour.

Despite your seemingly permanent inability to consecrate in the Mass now, you will yet see even closer into the mysteries of God by having suffered. Without suffering and loss, we would not advance one inch. Perhaps your loss of the Seminary will lead to a joyous simple life as a poor brother in Christ? Be aware, and keep your soul’s eyes open and your inner ears clear for the trumpet which calls you to battle. We’re not all meant to be generals in this grand conflict, spanning the ages and ages, and generations and generations. Be proud to serve as a private soldier rather than a colonel.

…

Dear God, help the man behind the name of Antonius Lupus to love you dearly, with all his heart, mind, soul, and strength. Let your majestic light and perfection shine on him, with all the infinite joy and affection you have for us, your poor little children. We beg you: allow your wisdom to alight upon Antonius’ soul, and your consolation to be with him in his darkness. Send your most holy Spirit into our dear brother, so as to enlighten the abyss he now finds himself in.

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend our brother in his battle!

Prayer in time of great need:

Heavenly Father, I know I am close to despair. I feel so tempted to give up, to withdraw from life and religion and let the world simply carry me along.
Everything seems so meaningless and nothing appeals to my better instincts.
Help me to remember that Jesus gave meaning to everything in the world.
Let me bank on that fact and get over this time of despair,
to really believe in the depths of my being that there is a reason for living.
Show me the reason for my life and tell me what I must do.
Bring home to me that I am never alone, but that You are with me even in the depths of despair. Remind me that no matter what I may endure now,
an unending joy awaits me in the future if I but cling tightly to You
and your Son Jesus in the unity of the Spirit. Amen.

still praying…

PATER NOSTER,
qui es in caelis,
sanctificetur nomen tuum.
Adveniat regnum tuum.
Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra.
Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie,
et dimitte nobis debita nostra
sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris.
Et ne nos inducas in tentationem,
sed libera nos a malo. Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.

O Holy Trinity,
we thank you for having given to the Church
Pope John Paul II,
and for having made him shine with your fatherly tenderness,
the glory of the Cross of Christ and the splendor of the Spirit of love
Code:
He, trusting completely in your infinite mercy
and in the maternal intercession of Mary, has shown himself
in the likeness of Jesus the Good Shepherd
and has pointed out to us holiness
as the path to reach eternal communion with You.

	Grant us, through his intercession,
according to your will, the grace that we implore,
in the hope that he will soon be numbered among your saints.
	Amen.

Here is a prayer I am praying right now to Padre Pio for discernment of my vocation as the possibility of marriage for me is closing and now hinges on a decision out of my control.

I understand completely the pain you speak of as I have experienced it myself. Not in relation to the priesthood but to the vocation of Marriage. I was absolutely crushed. The pain becomes physical for me. You are in my prayers.

Novena to Padre Pio
You, Christ, are the King of glory. ~The Eternal Son of the Father.
You overcame the sting of death ~ And opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers.

Hymn ~ At the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, Every tongue confess Him, King of glory now; “Tis the Father’s Pleasure we should call Him Lord, who from the beginning was the mighty Word.
Mighty and mysterious in the highest height, God from everlasting, very light of light: in the Father’s bosom with the Spirit blest, Love in love eternal, Rest in perfect rest.
Humbled for a season, to receive a name from the lips of sinners unto whom he came, faithfully he bore it spotless to the last, brought it back victorious when from death he passed.
Psalm 67 In the Cross is Victory
Antiphon Let us glory in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Him is our Salvation, Life, and resurrection, ALLELUIA!
O God, be gracious to us and bless us and make your face to shine upon us, that your way may be known upon earth, your saving power among all nations.
Let the peoples praise you, O God let all the peoples praise you!
Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth.
Let the peoples praise you, O God, let all the peoples praise you!
The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, has blessed us. May God bless us; let all the ends of the earth fear God!
Let the peoples praise you, O God let all the peoples praise you!
Antiphon Let us glory in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Him is our Salvation, Life, and resurrection, ALLELUIA!
Psalm Prayer Let us pray (pause for quiet prayer)
Lord Jesus Christ, by the precious wounds in your hands, feet and side, be gracious to us and bless us and make your saving power known among all nations, now and forever. ~Amen
Reading The Yoke of Christ Jesus Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Silence Response I have been crucified with Christ, ~And Christ lives in me.
The Canticle of St. Francis of Assisi ~ Most high, all powerful, all good Lord! All praise is yours, all glory, all honor, and all blessing. To you, alone, Most High, do they belong. No mortal lips are worthy to pronounce your name.
Be praised, my Lord, through all your creatures, especially through my lord Brother Sun, who brings the day; and you give light through him. And he is beautiful and radiant in all his splendor! Of you, Most High, he bears the likeness.
Be praised, my Lord, through Sister Moon and the stars; in the heavens you have made them, precious and beautiful.
Be praised, my Lord, through Brothers Wind and Air, and clouds and storms, and all the weather, through which you give your creatures sustenance.
Be praised, My Lord, through Sister Water; she is very useful, and humble, and precious, and pure.
Be praised, my Lord, through Brother Fire, through whom you brighten the night. He is beautiful and cheerful, and powerful and strong.
Be praised, my Lord, through our sister Mother Earth, who feeds us and rules us, and produces various fruits with colored flowers and herbs.
Be praised, my Lord, through those who forgive for love of you; through those who endure sickness and trial. Happy those who endure in peace, for by you, Most High, they will be crowned.
Be praised, my Lord, through our Sister Bodily Death, from whose embrace no living person can escape. Woe to those who die in mortal sin! Happy those she finds doing your most holy will. The second death can do no harm to them.
All creatures, fashioned by God’s mighty hand, praise glorify, and thank our Creator and serve the Lord in great humility: ~We praise you, O Lord!
Praise and bless my Lord, and give thanks, and serve him with great humility.
