Washington, DC – The Senate voted on a lopsided 2-1 margin in favor of pro-abortion Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to become the next Health Secretary. Pro-life groups had opposed her nomination because of her lengthy pro-abortion record voting pro-life bills and her close connection with a late-term abortion practitioner.

Senators voted 65 to 31 on Tuesday to confirm Sebelius as the secretary of Health and Human Services, approving yet another of President Barack Obama’s pro-abortion nominees.

I see that both Kansas Senators voted to confirm her. Both are Republicans. My guess is that they simply wanted her out of Kansas. Reminds me of the old Li’l Abner cartoons (showing my age here) where the residents of Dogpatch always reelected Senator Phogbound just to get him out of Dogpatch.

I hate to see another dissident Catholic enshrined by Obama, but he seems bound and determined to do that. He is also bound and determined to appoint pro-abortion people in every position.

So maybe the Ks Senators did the right thing. Washington is now the abortion capital of the world, so her addition won’t change much. But at least they got her out of Kansas.

Disgusting! All we need is another pro-abortion politician running things!

Yes, many Kansans will appreciate that. It also means that Brownback will not have to run against her in his bid for KS Governor.

Oddly enough, the last truly pro-life Governor that Kansas had was a Democrat–Joan Finney. But that could never happen today–I mean, having a Democrat running on a pro-life platform.

I think you’re right. The Democrat party has pretty much purged all prolifers out of the party, in the same sort of way that the Penn Republican party has, in effect, purged the pro-abortionist, Specter.

So basically our ‘representatives’ listened to the will of the people about as well as they listened to us on the socialist power-grab known as the bail-out.

Obama and his sad bunch of “progressive elite” cronies efforts to legitimize themselves by appointing “Catholics” who are not Catholic and to use former “Catholic” Universities as platforms for their pro-death agenda is brilliant, but flawed by their own selfish arrogance!

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.” (Mt 7:15)

**Any simple and honest person can see that Jesus would never find a “rationale” to condone abortion or the murder of any innocent human being!
**
The Battle Lines are drawn, “We are at War”. Will we be brave and defend the most innocent among us or will we continue to be cowards and allow this American Holocaust (50Million Murdered Babies!) to continue?

One day we will all stand alone and naked in front of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and He will ask us "WHAT DID YOU DO TO STOP THE MURDER OF MY BELOVED CHILDREN?"

i can only tremble and whisper through my pitiful tears “not enough my sweet Lord, Mercy!”

Sancta Maria, Mater dei, Ora Pro Nobis Peccatoribus!

If I understand correctly, Sebelius was not going to run for Kansas governor in 2010 anyway because her term limit would have been up. She might have run for senator in 2010, but I don’t think that is any reason to vote for her to be HHS Secretary. Won’t her policies affect the unborn on the national level as HHS Secretary? Besides, I don’t know if we can absolutely say for certain that she would have won the election for senator in 2010.

As for pro-life democrats, I know that they are out there. The main problem that I have with many democrats who claim to be “pro-life” is the same problem that I have with some republicans who claim to be “pro-life”. They are either not fully consistent on life issues, or they endorse and/or vote for pro-abortion politicians.

There is, however, an organization called “Democrats For Life of America” whose executive director is Kristen Day. www.democratsforlife.org
I think the group supports “Consistent Life Ethic” (opposes abortion, euthanasia, the death penalty, unjust war, economic injustice, racial violence, etc.) and is dedicated to making the Democratic Party a pro-life party.

Yes, I think you are correct that Sebelius could not have run for governor again.

I’m familiar with Democrats for Life. I’m not sure that I trust their consistency on life issues. Some of them got moderate ratings from NARAL during the last election cycle, iow, they were something less than 100% pro-life. They tend to propose economic solutions to help reduce the need for abortions, but not so much to propose reasonable restrictions on abortion itself, for example, limiting it to the first trimester, or only to save the life of the mother, etc.

I’m certainly glad of the existence of the group. I don’t mind that they espouse Democratic proposals on economic issues, but I would like them to be more staunch on opposing abortion and voting to limit it.
