Seeing how the church can’t even respond correctly to the sex abuse scandals, I don’t think it would be a good idea for the catholic church to control any government

A society should DEFINITELY be guided by the principles that Christ’s church upholds. That does NOT mean the church should run the state

You seem to think that we want a theocracy, when in reality that isn’t what we want.

Having the Church and State together is not the same as a theocracy.

the church and the state should be separate, distinct institutions.

That’s just like, the opinion of St. Pius X and Pope Pius XI.

so what? we don’t have to accept every opinion of every pope as the infallible teaching of the church.

pope francis says we should have more lax immigration policies, that’s just his opinion too. i’m not bound by it

It did. That’s why I’m continuing it. I’m not mad anymore but for a while there I was!

Anyway, I just see the church and state coming together as a terrible idea given the current state of the church. Are you saying I should be actively rooting for this to happen?

Okay, I apologize to both @(name removed by moderator) and @semper_catholicus

The true goal of the Catholic Church is world domination? Jesus said His Kingdom was not of this world.

I suppose in that jihadists want to kill the infidel but catholics just want to pray for the infidel’s conversion and outlaw the infidel from proclaiming their faith in the public square?

I don’t know. I wouldn’t want to live in a state that censored people from proclaiming their faith, even if their faith is wrong

Sensus Fidelium

I watch/listen to a lot of their videos on youtube.

Nice to hear that the priests of the Society of the Most Sorrowful Mother operate within my Archdiocese. Considering our exceptional Archbishop here in Denver then it doesn’t surprise me. 🙂

Can church teaching ever contradict itself?

Say, for instance, young earth creationism and evolution and the big bang theory?

That doesn’t make sense how Peter’s actions relate to that.
