Is it true that sentimental Catholicism is a fraud?

I would say very much so, yes. Feelings can and do change.

We are moving into and age of spiritualism that has no root in God the Father ( monotheism ) of the Jew’s are the Father Son and Holy Spirit ( trinitarian Godhead) . Christian’s are leaving the Catholic faith and Protestant faith. To go to these mega church’s where they are tought that you should pray for the material things of this world. Some of these false teacher will say that they are a little god. There is only one God. He is not a myth He is real and His Gospel and Church are real. For Jesus instituted his church. His one Catholic and Apostolic Church.

i don’t even know what “sentimental” catholicism is; your personal feelings (?)

we have the magesterium, the cathecism & the sacraments

sentimentalism (?) not sure how that’ll’ve played a role in faith

This forum should never be on feeling, for if it is that’s were we will run into err…
It should always be about the Catholic teaching of the Church in light of the Bible and the CCC.

If a questioner had a question like: What is the image of God? A person who has good catechesis can say ( Well in the CCC 356 on the image of God…
Of all visible creatures only man is able to know and love his creator. He is the only creature on Earth that God has willed for its own sake, and he alone is called to share, by knowledge and love, in God’s own life. It was for this end that he was created, and this is the fundamental reason for this dignity. You can also go to the Holy Scriptures
Genesis 1: 27 God created man in His image; in the Divine image he created him; male and female he created them.
You also have Father’s of the Church to go to…
Augustine taught that true freedom is not a choice or lack of constraint, but being what you are meant to be. Humans were created in the image of God. True Freedom, then, is not found in moving away from that image but only in living it out.
Hebrews 1:3 his son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance.

The image of God in the likeness or similar, but at the same time they are different. The image is just that, mankind is made in the image of God, whereas the likeness is a spiritual attribute of the moral qualities of God.

Let us never go on our feeling when talking about God and His Church for if you do go by feeling it will lead you into err.

Is Sentimental Catholicism anything like “Sentimental Journey” or “Sentimental Hygiene”?

Or does the term refer to those old tearjerking fiction stories about elderly Irish/ Italian/ Polish Catholic moms scrubbing the 1000th floor while ceaselessly praying for their sons to come home from the war or to return to the Church or to get out of the prison where they were unjustly sent?

Oh no, that song…feelings, nothing more then feelings

Ah! Morris Albert!!!

Personally, I prefer sentimental hygiene.

Actually, sentimental anything - other than sentiment - is an abstraction.
