The family is the domestic Church. What better way to weaken the Church as a whole than to destroy the domestic expression? Satan isn’t stupid, he knows exactly what he’s doing by destroying the sanctity of the sacrament of matrimony. Appears to be working, if you look at the state of the world today. 😦

It’s true. We are dealing with a very Dark, twisted adversary.

For the longest time I thought the Church will not be affected by so called “Gay Marriage”. We have Holy Matrimony not just secular marriage. It only affects secular/natural marriage…False.

When “Gay Marriage” becomes legal and completely mainstream… We Catholics will be viewed as even more counter-cultural, and extremist, and intolerant.

Let me ask you(all)…Do you feel comfortable talking about the Church’s teaching about gay sex?( That it is disordered). Many Catholics believe it but they are too intimidated to speak up. They don’t want to be labeled ‘Homo-phobe’.

So when it comes to pass, not only in California but through out the USA, we will be labeled as “Haters”. More so than ever.(Example: ‘Hate is not a family Value’) Bumper sticker mentatlity.

The next bumber sticker…

Holy Matrimony=Hate Speech.

People, don’t think that the Hate-speech laws cannot extinguish freedom of religion–Look at Europe!

This is where we are headed.

HRMM! I live in Europe and yes… we are in deep trouble. But make no mistake about it… America has helped the decline in Europe through Hollywood. For decades children and young people have watched youth-tv from “God’s own country”… movies and soaps that showed fornication and adultery and same sex relaitionships to be the norm rather than the exception.

Coming to cultural standards on the moral area… we are right behind you America.

Im not trying to trash Europeans, just poointing out a bleak situation. So please take no offense. But you’re right Holly Weird is culpable–No wonder the Middle East trties to filter our cultural impact.

It’s just strange that Europeans have suffered more than Americans under this cultural standard set by Hollywood.

It’s not Just Hollywood–It’s the Wars, The history of the Catholic Church in Europe etc.

But the good movies have been suppoorted by good people which stills seems like a vast number of people look at The Passion of Christ.

Whats “the Passion of the Christ” against TV and internet 24-7 filled with the worst trash from America… We don’t even have the resourses to make such a huge amount of trash programs like what the USA has sent out into the world these last 30 years.

Why is Europe weaker that America?.. One of my guesses is that there is a spirit of survival in the socalled American Dream… part of this dream was pursued by Europeans that looked for religious freedom… They ran from religious persecution in Europe and they are proud of their faith.

But your continent also have a whole different history… a history that is younger and therefore may spur extra optimism and less sarcasm, irony and scepticism. Europe today is largely a product of three things: The enlightenment time where there was a revolt against all religion, two world wars as well as lots of smaller ones (especially the first world war created a great disillusion when it came to the human belief in self and goodness), and then the 68-revolt. (this, as far as I know, being an import from America)… and this was more successsful over here for some reason… maybe especially in protestant Europe where religion was already weakened. The old Protestant countries are altogether more prone to the spirits of the time because their lack of firm Church structure and clear teaching … But as I said: Extremely much if not all of the bad influence TV-vise comes from the US… everything from teen-soaps that encourage casual sex (and where there is minimum one homo-sexual in order to be politically correct) to pornographic movies and webpages.

Somehow Europe is willing to swallow all the bad stuff without much protesting or debating… maybe because the Christian Church is quite weak and asleep here compared to the American Church.

So raise your banners and protest and teach your children with vigor and keep the debates alive over there… because satan does not sleep. Besides… I think… if maybe you made some laws against abortion etc. that would cause a renewed debate in Europe too that might lead to positive changes.

Ps… I know you are not bashing Europe… We love this little earth we have been given and we strive to love all humans… but we dont like the destroyer of all beautifl things… that old snake.

Reading your post makes me hopeful for the UK(a country that I resect and would love to some day visit). You seem like you have your head on your shoulders, and based on your profile still young!

Are you familiar with the CTS(Catholic Truth Society) ?

or Maryvale Instituite in Birmingham?or The Sower?

I have some friends over there that are leading the way with the Catholic Renewal through Catechesis in the UK.

They are awesome. The materials are superb. I just ordered EVANGELIUM(a series of power points for adult catechesis).
