In the early 90s I was crippled by a drunk driver. Recovering through Al-anon, a group family and friends of alcoholics, I found a paradign for living based on a relationship with God. It’s lead prayer, prayed at every meeting, is right out of AA. When times are hard I turn to God in prayer: “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”

I was a terrible alcoholic for many years.
It turns out that I was self medicating a form of Schizophrenia.
I received treatment for the mental disorder, but I still drank.
I wasn’t until recent years that I sobered up and received the
aid of a good Psychiatrist that my life changed. I don’t even
know my sobriety date. I just know that I read about venerable
Matt Talbot returned to the Sacraments and took my medication
properly that my life changed and now I would rather die than drink.
God Bless You.

God bless you Bryan on your difficult journey.

Praying for those affected by alcohol …

God bless you for your trust in God and for battling through such difficult problems to love as an example of faith and recovery, Bryan.
I ask God to continue to help and bless you,and to inspire others through you. 🙂
