I’m so sorry to hear that. Several years ago, when I was still a kid, one of our cousins had the misfortune to suffer from a mental illness. I was too young then, to know what it was but I certainly knew it was something very bad. My parents used to visit her everyday at the hospital.

( p.s - Sorry, I’ve this habit of writing an essay for answers).

I believe, now, that it was schizophrenia or psychosis . The sufferings my uncle and aunt had to go through was beyond my imagination. I’ve never said it to them but in my opinion, the stressful family environment was one of factors that led to it. No, not divorce or financial problems - just an extreme lack of parents’ attention and guidance triggered by internal disputes (quarrels).

The once vivid and charming, smart and intelligent , and an extrovert with a big heart - my cousin turned into a frightened (as well as frightening to us) and withdrawn young woman.

She found solace with some medications but the illness would return again with vengeance. Therapies/counselling were done,but none worked. Then, she was married. Her hubby was a devout Christian (still is). It was great of him to be left undeterred by the mental illness of his spouse that literally wrecked havoc in his life too.

Today, they live happily with two beautiful daughters. She’s free of the illness, thank you God and what’s more the brave lady is in the forefront of “camps” that dedicate their works to Christ, our Lord. She always says “Words are never enough how happy I feel because I’ve truly been blessed by the Lord”.

I pray to God Almighty, our Heavenly Father in Lord Jesus’ name that B be able to get through this phase. Please, do not abandon your friendship ( if you are) with her parents, give them emotional support, and lastly don’t stop praying no matter how long it may take. My cousin sister is the testimony to God’s answered prayers in a severely afflicting mental illness. Not only her but the whole family is far from those painful days and living life to their fullest. Lord, be praised!!
