When a person sins does his flesh condemn his spirit?
When a person sins is his spirit corrupt?
If your spirit is pure GOD in the flesh how can it sin?

Talk to me people!!

Please Im not trying to cause any arguments but love to hear others views.I don’t have answers on these they are just some of my thoughts.

Thanks!

No, sin is a stain on both the flesh and the soul. One cannot sin and only have it affect one or the other. Both.
When a person sins is his spirit corrupt?
Our human nature is already corrupted by the stain of original sin and mankind is fallen from the time of birth.
If your spirit is pure GOD in the flesh how can it sin?
Our soul is NOT pure God… it was created by God, but it is entirely distinct and different in nature from the divine. In essense, the human soul is supernatural, and God is Divine (or: super-duper-natural). Because of this difference in nature, we are capable (after the fall of man) of sinning.

A person who commits mortal sin condemns his spirit and body if he does not repent. Venial sin wounds the soul but can never condemn it.

Because of the fall the body and soul are corrupt. Sin wounds both even further. But holiness does not guarentee perfect bodily health. Sin damages the body though. Addictions for example. Abortions. etc. Sometimes sin can just effect the soul though.

I’m not sure if you could say the spirits of men is pure God in the flesh. Jesus was God in the flesh. We are made in God’s image and likeness, we are not God though.

We sin because we want to.

Meditate on that.

Original sin, didn’t the blood of Christ clean that? for those who accept Christ that is.

Stain the soul, Can we undo what GOD has done?

I know that we are not GOD,sorry for the misunderstanding but I think you are underestimated your worth. I don’t think he got our spirits from a chop shop, I think he gave us some of him.

Gotta run! See you tomorrow!!!

Thank you! repent is it. Accepth Christ, repent, sparkling clean!

I think the whole of your last post can be addressed by looking at the first question you asked in it…
Original sin, didn’t the blood of Christ clean that? for those who accept Christ that is.
The Paschal Sacrifice of the Lamb of God OPENED the possibility of salvation to mankind. It is ours to attempt to live without sin, to repent when we have sinned, and to come before God with a soul made clean by God’s grace. In effect, the answer is no, Jesus sacrifice did not for once and for all remit the sins of every person for all time after acceptance of Christ. we know that we are to work out our salvation in fear and trembling.

Fear and trembling?? Why fear and trembling?
I know that Jesus sits at the right hand he is the best lawyer for the case. Why would you fear and tremble?
(Good idea for my next thread! Why would you fear GOD when he tells you that fear is no of his spirit?) Be on the lookout for that thread!!

Fear and trembling is a reference to how St Paul says we are to work out our salvation…
ICOR2:12 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, (as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but much more now in my absence,) with fear and trembling work out your salvation.

which is also a reference to Tobias 13:6 from the OT

Thanks, you beat me to pointing out the biblical reference in what I said. I think it is all to often that we focus on the niceties of Christianity without focusing on one integral part which is repeated so often (and often ignored) in the NT: We are still broken creatures.

Hi Gang!
Im just going to give some info on what I was taught so that if I ask questions hopefully you won’t think Im being disrespectful to the Cathollic faith.

I was raised southern Baptist(non-denominational now,God is God) and what I believe is that you were born in sin, Jesus is the second Adam and when you accept Jesus Christ your lord and Saviour and repent your sins you are washed in his holy blood through that. And that old things are passed away and you are a new Creature. If you continue to sin you repent but you are no longer under the original sin and you are new. I believe that if you have faith in Jesus you can do the things he has done and more because he has gone to the father. I believe the things we can do like Jesus is only done through him,not through our works but by his righteouness.
I don’t believe sickness is from GOD but I believe he allows it for his reasons.
I don’t accept physical death as GOD given because Jesus never said you were dead but asleep because he took death away from us who believes in him.
I believe Jesus talks to us if we would shut up long enough to listen.
I believe the kingdom of heaven is within you and you hold the key to unlocking it.

enough babble about me, how are you guys?

Here is the reference in 1 Corinthians:
11 And that every tongue should confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is in the glory of God the Father. 12 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, (as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but much more now in my absence,) with fear and trembling work out your salvation. 13 For it is God who worketh in you, both to will and to accomplish, according to his good will. 14 And do ye all things without murmurings and hesitations; 15 That you may be blameless, and sincere children of God, without reproof, in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation; among whom you shine as lights in the world.
*12 “With fear”… This is against the false faith, and presumptuous security of modern sectaries. *

*Here is Tobias 13:

1 And Tobias the elder opening his mouth, blessed the Lord, and said: Thou art great, O Lord, for ever, and thy kingdom is unto all ages: 2 For thou scourgest, and thou savest: thou leadest down to hell, and bringest up again: and there is none that can escape thy hand. 3 Give glory to the Lord, ye children of Israel, and praise him in the sight of the Gentiles: 4 Because he hath therefore scattered you among the Gentiles, who know not him, that you may declare his wonderful works, and make them know that there is no other almighty God besides him. 5 He hath chastised us for our iniquities: and he will save us for his own mercy.
6 See then what he hath done with us, and with fear and trembling give ye glory to him: and extol the eternal King of worlds in your works. 7 As for me, I will praise him in the land of my captivity: because he hath shewn his majesty toward a sinful nation. 8 Be converted therefore, ye sinners, and do justice before God, believing that he will shew his mercy to you. 9 And I and my soul will rejoice in him. 10 Bless ye the Lord, all his elect, keep days of joy, and give glory to him.

Old Testament Catholic Bible… it is one of the books that Protestants removed. It is also one of my favorites because it really explains the true meaning and purpose of a sacramental marriage. It is almost always used in Catholic Nuptial Masses.

I’ll ask him tonight before I sleep to reveal this to me.
Its not a joke, before I go to bed some nights if there is something Im not sure of I ask for him to reveal the truth onto me.
The last time I did that Jesus asked me (in my dream) to come and sit down next to him, I sat on the right side of him whil ehe showed me a scroll in his left hand, he would not let m etouch it but he said it was the “Old word” it was on old paper. As I saw it I realized that it was written in “old hebrew” in which I never heard of until I looked it up on the internet, and there it was,the exact same writing from my dream.

Blessings!

Fear and trembling?? Why fear and trembling?
I know that Jesus sits at the right hand he is the best lawyer for the case. Why would you fear and tremble?
(Good idea for my next thread! Why would you fear when he tells you that fear is not of his spirit?) Be on the lookout for that thread!!
Don’t forget: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,” Proverbs 1:7.

And don’t confuse servile fear with filial fear. The filial fear that we should have connects us to Divine Charity; we flee from sin because it is an offense against the One Who loves us and against those who are loved by God.

It brings with it freedom from scrupulousness and from repression and tenseness. It frees us from the temptations and sins to which we formerly were prone. Most of all, the source of filial fear is God Himself, not ourselves who are so prone to many fears that constrict our giving ourselves to Him. Fear of the Lordis a gift of the Holy Spirit; it is not something we suddenly decide to take upon ourselves. Because it comes from Him it brings with it an openness of spirit, a boldness without presumption in approaching what formerly would have been a source of temptation, i.e., engaging with others who might have led us away from God. Now, however, the soul endowed with great fear of the Lord is able to draw others to the good, the true and the beautiful.

Since it grows out of true love (itself a gift from God) the fear of God makes us less fearful in following His commands, it makes us determined to live a life of virtue seeking after true holiness. This fear allows us to see ourselves and our weaknesses but also to live in great hope because now our confidence is placed in God and not in ourselves. This will be especially true if one has had such an encounter with God such as to make the soul fully aware of the offenses against Him.
“A son in the presence of his father finds within himself many apparently conflicting sentiments. He loves his father, for being his son draws him spontaneously to love. At the same time, he fears him because paternity is the fount of law and of sovereignty. Moreover, the son is likely to experience separation from or loss of the father. In proportion to the tenderness of his filial love, the fear of losing him grows. Such is the attitude of a Christian before his God: the desire to possess God intensifies the fear of losing Him. Hope which enlarges our desire and need of God, enlarges proportionately the fear of losing him. To love God as the most tender and loving of Father and yet to be aware that we can lose Him through our own fault; to see Him at an increasing distance from us through our own infidelity is a fearful thought,” The Theological Virtues and the Spiritual Life, Fr. Anastasius of the Holy Rosary, O.C.D."
