I am a 25 year old medical (MD) student in the east coast of the US. In undergraduate school I never got anything less than an A- from an Ivy League school.
I had a near perfect GPA. It is final exam period now at my medical school and I got a “pass” in a class. The grading system is Pass/High Pass/ Honors/ Fail.
I didn’t sleep for 60 hours because I was deathly afraid I would never match into an uber competitive specialty like orthopedic surgery or neurosurgery. I wrote three suicide notes but eventually turned myself in to some professional counseling. I was granted a leave of absence from my studies and should be able to check up during the summer.
I need to realize that grades aren’t that important anymore. Supposedly “passing” is fine. What matters most are my scores on the various Board exams.
